Waba Fishing Frenzy

Quickstart

1. Craft a [Waba Rod](). For upgrades, make a [Fishing Bench]() and some rod parts; common parts are a good start.
2. Place the bench, then use it to install parts. Keep the parts you want to install in your inventory.
3. Hold the Waba Rod and use it near water. When the minigame shows an arrow sequence, press the matching arrow keys before time runs out. A wrong input or missed deadline loses that fish, but fishing continues.
4. Use the Fishing Journal you receive when you join to check your catches and collection progress.

Stay near the water, keep the rod in hand, and don’t leave the area while fishing. Close the minigame with Esc or its cancel control to stop.

Overview

Fishing Frenzy turns fishing into a sequence-based minigame. Catch a variety of fish, each with its own rarity, habitat, size, and weight. Customize your Waba Rod to reduce the wait for bites or give yourself longer to complete a catch.

Your Fishing Journal tracks discovered species, your best recorded specimen of each, and your total catches. You can also explore for special fishing spots, take requests from the Old Angler, and craft useful items from your catches.

What It Adds

The catch catalog includes common, rare, legendary, and unique fish, as well as vanilla Cod, Salmon, Tropical Fish, and Pufferfish.

The world also has special fishing locations: a bright-wool pond in the plains, underground crystal ponds, and a fisherman’s house alongside villages. Disco Fish are associated with crystal ponds; Masterwork Fish with the bright-wool pond.

How To Use

Catching fish

Use the Waba Rod near water to start a session. After a wait, a shadow circles the bobber; shortly afterward, the game displays the fish and an arrow sequence. Match the arrows before the timer ends. Higher-grade fish require longer sequences, and especially large fish can add extra inputs.

A successful catch shows its size and weight, adds it to your inventory, and records it in your journal. Your rod then continues fishing automatically. If you miss the sequence, the fish gets away and the next fishing cycle begins.

Finding particular fish

Fish availability depends on the water’s location and sometimes the time of day. Some useful clues:

• Swamps and jungles: Piranha bite at night; Archerfish and several swamp-dwelling fish are found in these waters. Wormfish also appear in swamps, mangrove swamps, and rivers.
• Rivers and forests: Brown bastard are found in rivers or forests. Moonfin and Siamese Fish are river catches tied to Old Angler requests; Moonfin bites at night.
• Oceans: Angler Fish, Fish Sword, Moray Eel, and other ocean fish are available here. Look to deep lukewarm ocean for Blob Fish, deep ocean for Sea Bear, cold oceans for Baluga Dolphin, and warm-ocean coral reefs for the Old Angler’s Pickaxe Head Shark request.
• Caves and high places: Axolotl variants and Dunkleosaurus are found in lush caves. Fly Fish bite in water above Y=192; The Reaper’s request points you below Y=20.
• Special spots and conditions: Disco Fish are found at crystal ponds, Masterwork Fish at the bright-wool pond, and Glitter Bathbomb Fish in water made sparkling with a bathbomb. Podcast fish are associated with village structures. Pink catcatfish appear in flower forests during the day; Zombie Sunfish appear in oceans at night.

The Waba Spawn Ledger is a creative reference item with fish habitats, size ranges, rarity, rod-part effects, and local spawn-rate information.

Journal and badges

Use the Fishing Journal to open its Log or Badges view. The Log shows discovered fish and the best size and weight recorded for each species. Badges evolve as your total catches reach 10, 100, and 1,000.

Rod and bench parts

Craft the Waba Rod and Fishing Bench using their recipes above. These recipes make the components below:

At a Fishing Bench, cycle through parts you own and choose Install selected. Installing a replacement returns the old part to your inventory. Remove returns the installed part without replacing it.

Other crafted items

Fish Scales can be found as a fishing reward and are also given for some Old Angler requests. Use them to craft the armor set.

Rod parts

• Bobber: Common, rare, and legendary parts shorten the wait for a bite; higher grades shorten it more.
• Rod section: Standard grades do not add a minigame bonus. The Old Reliable Rod slightly shortens the wait.
• Reel: Common, rare, and legendary reels add time to the catch window; higher grades add more. The Old Reliable Reel provides the longest window.
• Old Reliable Bobber: Shortens the bite wait and increases the chance of a unique-grade catch.

Amethyst and Nen parts are rare-grade alternatives. Old Reliable parts are rewards from unique-fish requests rather than ordinary crafting recipes.

Progression And Strategy

Find the Old Angler, a fisherman villager, and interact with him to request a fish or turn in a catch. If there is no Old Angler nearby, an unemployed villager can become one when approached near a Fishing Bench.

Requests guide you toward fish with specific rarity and habitats. You can accept up to three requests per in-game day. Completing requests advances from common to rare and then legendary fish; later requests can call for unique fish. Rewards include rod parts, and high-grade requests can also reward Fish Scales. Unique-fish requests reward all three Old Reliable parts.
