Mod Wiki
Void Devourer
Quickstart
- Craft the Void Devourer:

- Hold it in either hand and use it.
- Aim at the area you want to consume. A void vortex appears about 4 blocks in front of you.
- Try it on a small structure or a pile of dropped items. The vortex destroys nearby blocks, pulls loose items toward its center, and drags nearby players inward.
- Wait about 10 seconds before using it again.
The item is also available in the Combat tab of the Creative inventory.
Overview
The Void Devourer is a single-use-at-a-time tool that creates a short-range void vortex. Each activation:
- Destroys non-air blocks in a roughly 7×7×7 area around the vortex.
- Collects nearby dropped items when they reach the vortex.
- Pulls loose items and other players toward the vortex.
- Awards experience based on the loot absorbed into your inventory.
- Creates portal particles and an enderman teleport sound.
The vortex is centered in the direction you are looking, so aim carefully before activating it.
What It Adds
| Content | Description |
|---|---|
| Void Devourer | A stackable-to-one tool that generates a destructive, loot-gathering vortex |
| Void vortex | A temporary effect placed approximately 4 blocks in front of the user |
| Power absorption | Collected block drops and nearby item entities can grant experience |
How To Use
Hold the Void Devourer and use it with the normal item-use control.
Block devouring
The vortex checks a cube extending 3 blocks in every direction from its center. Non-air blocks that can be destroyed are removed, and their normal block drops are generated.
Collected drops are inserted into your inventory. If your inventory cannot accept a drop, the loot remains in the world at the block's former position instead of being deleted.
Item gathering
Dropped item entities within 8 blocks of the vortex are pulled toward it. When an item reaches approximately 1.75 blocks from the center, the Void Devourer attempts to place it in your inventory.
Items that cannot fit remain in the world and are still affected by the vortex's pull.
Player pull
Other players within 8 blocks of the vortex are pulled toward its center. The player using the Void Devourer is not pulled.
Effects and cooldown
Each activation produces portal particles and an enderman teleport sound. After use, the item has a cooldown of 200 ticks—approximately 10 seconds. Attempting to use it during this cooldown fails.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the Void Devourer with obsidian, crying obsidian, an ender pearl, a nether star, and a diamond:
The recipe becomes available after entering a world. In Creative mode, you can also take the item from the Combat tab.
Abilities And Mechanics
- The vortex appears based on your position and look direction, rather than at the block you are directly targeting.
- Its block-devouring area is a 7×7×7 cube centered on the vortex.
- Its item- and player-pull range is 8 blocks.
- Block drops and absorbed loose items can be placed directly into your inventory.
- A full inventory causes loot to remain in the world.
- The user receives up to 32 experience points per activation. The amount is based on the number of loot items successfully absorbed into the user's inventory from blocks and nearby item entities.
- The item does not consume itself when activated and can be reused after the cooldown.
Progression And Strategy
- Start with isolated terrain or disposable structures until you are familiar with the 4-block offset and the 7×7×7 destruction area.
- Empty inventory space before devouring valuable blocks so their drops can be collected immediately.
- Drop unwanted items near the vortex and let it pull them in, but keep valuable items farther than the collection distance if you do not want them gathered immediately.
- Keep other players clear of the 8-block radius when using the item near ledges, hazards, or delicate builds.
- Use the experience reward as a bonus for clearing areas and gathering loot, not as a guaranteed reward for every block destroyed.
