Quickstart

1. Craft the Chainshot at a crafting table (see recipe below — iron ingots, sticks, chains, and a diamond in a shaped pattern).
2. Find any tree in the world.
3. Right-click a log block on the trunk to use the Chainshot.
4. Watch the tree topple sideways — the entire trunk and leaves are repositioned as a fallen tree lying on the ground.
5. Collect the fallen wood blocks at your leisure.

The Chainshot is also available directly from the Tools creative tab if you want to try it without crafting first.

Overview

Timber Chainshot adds a single specialty tool — the Chainshot — that fells an entire standing tree in one cinematic action. Instead of chopping every log individually, you right-click the trunk and the whole tree tips over sideways, landing as a horizontal log pile. The blocks are preserved in the world rather than dropped as items, making the result useful both for fast harvesting and for decorative landscaping with fallen trunks.

What It Adds

How To Use

• Right-click any log while holding the Chainshot to trigger the fell.
• The tree is scanned for all connected logs and nearby leaves. The direction the trunk falls is determined by which face of the log you click — click a north/south/east/west face and the tree falls away from that face. Clicking the top or bottom face uses your horizontal facing direction instead.
• A sweep-attack blade animation plays at the base, accompanied by chain and axe sounds.
• After the action completes, a message appears on-screen confirming how many blocks were moved (e.g., "Chainshot dropped 24 tree blocks sideways!").
• If the tree is too large to process safely, you will instead see "That tree is too massive for this Chainshot" and nothing will happen.

Limits

Trees that exceed either block limit are rejected outright — the Chainshot will not partially fell them.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Chainshot is crafted at a standard crafting table using the following shaped recipe:

It yields 1 Chainshot and has uncommon rarity (purple name).

Abilities And Mechanics

• Tree scanning — When you right-click a log, the Chainshot traces all connected log blocks and leaves within range (up to 40 blocks tall, 8 blocks horizontal spread, leaves within 3 blocks of a log).
• Rotation — The upright trunk is removed and reconstructed lying on its side in the fall direction. Log block orientations are updated automatically so they face the correct axis.
• Block preservation — Blocks are placed back into the world rather than dropped. If a target position is occupied, the placement shifts to find the nearest open spot.
• Durability — Each successful fell costs 1 durability. The tool breaks at 0 durability like any other tool.
• Cooldown — After each use a short cooldown prevents immediate re-use.

Progression And Strategy

• Craft the Chainshot as soon as you can source a diamond — it replaces the need to chop dozens of individual logs and saves significant early-game time when gathering large amounts of wood.
• Aim your click toward the open ground rather than another tree to avoid toppling into obstacles.
• The fallen trunk makes an instant decorative element for builds — log cabins, rustic fences, or campfire scenery all benefit from naturally placed horizontal logs without any manual rotation.
• With 512 durability the Chainshot lasts through hundreds of trees; treat it as a long-term utility tool rather than a consumable.
• Very large jungle trees or old-growth trees may exceed the block limit — use a regular axe for those, or thin them out first before attempting a fell.
