    Description:

    The Stab Shot Rod is a new craftable Bedrock Edition item (also available in Creative) with its own icon and recipe—equip it and use/interact while aiming to fire the Stab Shot. Using the rod carves a full 12×12 vertical shaft straight down to the dimension’s bedrock, instantly killing any entities inside; entities with a Totem of Undying in their offhand instead consume the totem, survive with totem-style effects and particles. After each use you get an action-bar summary showing the shaft creation, how many entities were killed, and how many totems were consumed.

    Stab Shot Rod

    Quickstart

    1. Craft the Stab Shot Rod at a Crafting Table (see recipe below) or grab one from the Equipment tab in Creative mode.
    2. Hold the rod in your main hand.
    3. Aim toward where you want the shaft to open — the blast point lands 8 blocks in front of you in your horizontal facing direction.
    4. Press Use/Interact (right-click on PC, the interact button on mobile/controller) to fire the Stab Shot.
    5. Watch a 7×7 column of blocks instantly vanish straight down to bedrock, accompanied by an explosion sound and particle effect.
    6. Check your action bar — it will tell you how many entities were killed and how many Totems of Undying were consumed.

    Overview

    The Stab Shot Rod is a powerful hand-held tool that lets you carve a massive vertical shaft into any dimension with a single use. Point it at a target area, fire, and everything from just below your feet all the way down to bedrock is hollowed out in an instant. Any unlucky entities caught inside are destroyed — unless they are carrying a Totem of Undying in their offhand, in which case the totem saves them just as it would from any other lethal threat.

    What It Adds

    ItemDescription
    Stab Shot RodA craftable, hand-held rod that fires the Stab Shot ability. Stackable to 1. Has 128 uses.

    How To Use

    Firing the Stab Shot

    • Hold the Stab Shot Rod in your main hand.
    • Face the direction you want to target. The shaft opens 8 blocks ahead of you along your horizontal look direction.
    • Press Use/Interact. The rod takes a brief moment to activate (about 0.25 seconds) and slows your movement slightly while charging.
    • The rod has a short cooldown between uses, so you cannot fire continuously.

    The Shaft

    • The shaft is 7×7 blocks wide (3 blocks in each direction from the center point).
    • It extends from the surface down to the bottom of the dimension — bedrock level in the Overworld and End, or as low as the Nether allows.
    • All blocks in the column are replaced with air.
    • A large explosion particle and sound play at the top of the shaft when it fires.

    Dimension Behaviour

    DimensionShaft bottomShaft top cap
    OverworldY = −63Up to Y = 319
    NetherY = 1Up to Y = 127
    EndY = −63Up to Y = 319

    Abilities And Mechanics

    Entity Killing

    Every entity (mobs, players, items, etc.) whose position falls inside the shaft volume is instantly killed when the Stab Shot fires.

    Totem of Undying Protection

    If an entity has a Totem of Undying in its offhand slot at the moment the Stab Shot lands, the totem is consumed instead of the entity dying. The saved entity receives:

    • Regeneration II (10 seconds)
    • Absorption II (5 seconds)
    • Fire Resistance I (40 seconds)
    • The classic totem particle effect

    One totem is consumed per trigger, regardless of stack size.

    Action Bar Feedback

    After every use, your action bar displays a summary:

    Stab Shot opened a 7×7 shaft to bedrock. Killed: X. Totems consumed: X.

    If the targeted area is protected or not fully loaded, you will see:

    Stab Shot could not cut this protected or unloaded area.

    Durability

    The rod has 128 durability and loses 1 durability on every use. Once it breaks, you will need to craft a new one.

    Crafting And Obtaining

    The Stab Shot Rod is crafted at a Crafting Table. The recipe unlocks once you have a Blaze Rod, Nether Star, or Totem of Undying in your inventory. It is also available directly from the Equipment tab in Creative mode.

    Progression And Strategy

    • Mining: The Stab Shot Rod is one of the fastest ways to expose deep ores. Fire it near a known ore vein area and the entire column down to bedrock is instantly open for exploration — just watch out for lava pockets.
    • Combat: Caught enemies in the shaft zone are eliminated instantly. Use it to clear out mob farms, dungeon rooms, or trap pursuing players.
    • Totem awareness: Keep a Totem of Undying in your offhand any time you might accidentally be standing in the shaft's path. It will save you once, but it will be consumed.
    • Resource cost: The recipe is expensive — Diamond Blocks, a Nether Star, Obsidian, a Blaze Rod, and a Totem of Undying. Treat each rod as a late-game asset with 128 shots before it needs replacing.
    • Cooldown management: There is a brief cooldown between shots, so plan each use deliberately rather than spamming.
