Quickstart

1. Craft the Soulfire Totem Axe using the recipe below.
2. Equip it in your hand like any other axe.

The Soulfire Totem Axe is a rare, enchanted-looking weapon infused with the eerie power of the Soul Sand Valley. It behaves like a golden axe in combat, but every hit channels soul fire energy into the target. If you're the one to finish off a mob with this axe, it rewards you with a Totem of Undying, making it a powerful tool for anyone who wants a steady supply of these life-saving trinkets.

What It Adds

• Soulfire Totem Axe — a one-handed axe with a permanent enchantment glint, built around soul fire magic.

How To Use

• Wield the axe like any other axe or sword — it deals solid damage and can also chop wood-based blocks (logs, planks, and slabs) faster than normal.
• Whenever you strike a living creature with it, the target catches blue soul fire and is wracked with a withering effect, dealing extra damage over time.
• If your hit reduces the target's health to zero, the mob drops a Totem of Undying at the spot it died, instead of its usual loot.
• The axe has limited durability and gradually wears down with use, so keep it repaired.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the axe at a crafting table using soul soil, a golden axe, soul lantern, and a stick, arranged as shown:

• Repairing: Use netherite ingots on the axe in a crafting grid or anvil-style repair to restore a portion of its durability. Each netherite ingot restores roughly a quarter of the axe's max durability.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Soulfire Strike: Every hit ignites the target with soul-fire flames (dealing fire damage over a few seconds) and applies a strong Wither effect for extra damage.
• Totem Drop On Kill: If the strike that ignites and withers the target is also the killing blow, the mob's normal drops are replaced with a Totem of Undying that appears on the ground where it died.
• Efficient Woodcutter: Beyond combat, the axe chops through logs, planks, and wooden slabs noticeably faster than a standard axe.

Progression And Strategy

• Because the axe has a maximum durability of 500 and takes wear on many hits, save it for kills you specifically want to farm for totems rather than general combat or mining.
• Farming hostile mobs (or even passive ones) with the axe is currently the most reliable way to stockpile Totems of Undying, since they are otherwise very rare to obtain.
• Keep netherite ingots on hand to repair the axe between totem-farming sessions so it doesn't break at an inconvenient moment.
• The Wither effect applied on hit also makes the axe useful against tougher enemies, softening them up over time in addition to the initial fire damage.
