Astral Amethyst Pickaxe

Quickstart

Craft the pickaxe at a crafting table. You’ll need two Amethyst Blocks, one Netherite Block, one Nether Star, and two Sticks:

Equip it and mine a block to clear a 3×3 area around it. Use the pickaxe’s Use Item control while holding it to gain Night Vision and Haste II for 10 minutes. Try mining an amethyst bud or cluster directly for extra shards.

Overview

The Astral Amethyst Pickaxe is a durable pickaxe with a 3×3 mining sweep, bonus ore drops, and temporary mining and visibility effects. It has 2,031 durability and can receive pickaxe enchantments.

Crafting and Obtaining

The recipe unlocks when you obtain an Amethyst Block. You can also find the pickaxe in the Creative inventory’s Equipment category.

How to Use

• Aim before mining: The sweep covers the 3×3 plane around the block you mine, perpendicular to the direction you’re facing. Looking at a wall sweeps a vertical plane; looking up or down sweeps a horizontal one.
• Watch what’s nearby: The sweep also removes other non-air blocks in that plane, not just ores. Take care around builds and blocks you want to keep.
• Use the pickaxe for its effects: While holding it, activate Use Item to gain Night Vision and Haste II for 10 minutes.

Abilities and Mechanics

• Bonus ore drops: Qualifying ores broken in the sweep—including coal, iron, copper, gold, redstone, lapis, diamond, emerald, quartz, Nether gold ore, and ancient debris—drop two additional times their normal item-drop amount.
• Extra amethyst shards: Directly mining an amethyst cluster or small, medium, or large amethyst bud grants 2 additional Amethyst Shards.
• Mining speed and durability: The pickaxe is suited to many stone blocks and ores, and has 2,031 durability.
