Sky Warden

Quickstart

1. Get a Cloud Sigil — craft one at a crafting table or run /skywarden give in chat.
2. Start a Trial — stand outdoors under open sky and right-click with the Cloud Sigil.
3. Survive five waves of Sky Trial Skyreavers and minibosses. The final wave spawns the Storm Dragon boss.
4. Collect your rewards — Sky Feathers, Skyreaver Shards, Dragonstorm Fragments, the SkyBow, and LockDown Arrows drop from completed trials.
5. Explore the sky — find Cloudling, Nimbus Strider, or Tempest Charger cloud mounts spawning in high open-sky biomes, tame them, saddle them, and ride into the clouds.

Overview

Sky Warden is a sky-combat and exploration mod that adds wave-based Sky Warden Trials, a roster of named Guardian NPCs with an Offering UI, three rideable cloud mounts, powerful new weapons and relics, and the Sky Temple portal structure. All enemies and mounts appear as flat 2D sprites, giving the mod a distinctive illustrated aesthetic.

How To Use

Running a Sky Warden Trial

1. Craft or obtain a Cloud Sigil.
2. Go outside to a location with clear sky above you.
3. Right-click to activate the trial. A HUD appears showing current wave, wave timer, and sky focus.
4. Fight through five waves of escalating Sky Trial Skyreavers and minibosses. Enemies grow larger and stronger each wave.
5. Wave 5 spawns the Storm Dragon. Defeat it to complete the trial.
6. Rewards drop at the end: Sky Feathers, Skyreaver Shards, Dragonstorm Fragments, and gear.

Guardian Offerings

Right-click any Guardian NPC to open the Offering UI — an inventory-style screen showing what items are required and what reward you receive, with hover text like "Offer: 3× item → Receive: reward".

• Place the listed item(s) in the offer slot to receive the reward.
• Invalid items are rejected with red particles and the message "This Guardian does not accept that offering."
• Guardians only grant end-game rewards: relics, weapons, armor, SkyBow upgrades, LockDown Arrow bundles, Temple Keeper Keys, rare materials, and cosmetics. They do not give trial loot or mount taming items.

Sky Temple Portal

Locate a Sky Temple Portal in the world. Nearby chests regenerate loot automatically over time, providing a reliable source of helpful supplies. Use a Temple Keeper Key (obtained from Orion or other Guardians) to access locked Temple chests.

• Sky Feathers, Skyreaver Shards, Dragonstorm Fragments — drop from completing Sky Warden Trials.
• SkyBow, Storm Judge Blade, Cloud Mirror Aegis, Seraph Friendship Lance, Apparition Veil, Relics, Temple Keeper Keys — obtained exclusively through Guardian Offerings.
• Cloud Feather, Void Wisp, Phantom Echo Pearl, Storm Talon, Cloud-Vein Membrane — rare drops from sky enemies or cloud mounts.

Abilities And Mechanics

Cloud Mounts — Taming & Riding

1. Find a cloud mount spawning in a high, open-sky biome (they appear as flat 2D sprites and float gently).
2. Hold the correct taming item and right-click the mount. Hearts appear on success.
3. Right-click again with a Saddle to equip it. You'll see "Saddle fitted to the cloud mount."
4. Right-click the saddled, tamed mount to ride it.

Riding controls:

On dismount, you briefly receive Slow Falling. Mounts float back toward their owner when not ridden and emit themed particles (electric sparks for Tempest Charger; clouds for Cloudling and Nimbus Strider).

Mount abilities:

• Cloudling — gentle floating and glide
• Nimbus Strider — enhanced glide
• Tempest Charger — fastest; dash ability; aggressive toward strangers until tamed

Sky Trial HUD

During an active trial the HUD displays:

• Wave number (1–5)
• Wave timer (time remaining in the current wave)
• Sky Focus (a trial-specific resource or progress meter)

SkyBow & LockDown Arrows

The SkyBow fires Sky Warden Arrows and can be upgraded through Guardian Offerings. Both LockDown Arrow and LockDown Arrow+ are compatible with any bow and apply a slowing effect on hit. LockDown Arrow+ is significantly more powerful, requiring Nether Stars to craft.

Progression And Strategy

Early game: Gather vanilla materials (Feather, Phantom Membrane, Amethyst Shards, Paper) to craft your first Cloud Sigil. Early trials yield Sky Feathers, which unlock LockDown Arrow crafting.

Mid game: Stockpile Skyreaver Shards and Dragonstorm Fragments from repeated trials. Visit Guardians to trade for the SkyBow and your first end-game weapons. Locate cloud mounts in mountain or high-altitude biomes and tame a Nimbus Strider for safer aerial traversal.

Late game: Farm Temple chests for passive loot regeneration. Seek out the Tempest Charger — the rarest and most powerful mount. Complete Guardian Offering chains to unlock relics (Friendship Oracle Prism, Cloudscribe Quill), the Seraph Friendship Lance, Cloud Mirror Aegis, and Apparition Veil cosmetics. Collect all nine Sky Story Books to experience the full lore.

Tips:

• Keep LockDown Arrows stocked before wave 5 — the Storm Dragon is much easier with slowed movement.
• Riding a cloud mount during a trial lets you gain altitude advantage over Skyreavers.
• Tempest Charger will flee or attack if you approach without a Phantom Echo Pearl in hand — come prepared.
• Sky Temple chests refill over time, so revisit them regularly for free supplies.
