Shifter Lucky Block

Quickstart

1. Craft a Shifter Lucky Block using the recipe below (you'll also automatically receive this recipe unlocked when you join a world).
2. Place it anywhere and break it with a pickaxe.
3. Stand back — breaking it triggers a random reward: powerful gear, stacks of valuable materials, a helpful potion effect, a surprise TNT, or a hostile mob spawn.
4. Keep any Shifter Temple Seal or Shifter Rift Beacon you find — right-click them on the ground to build a guarded structure loaded with loot and monsters to fight for even better rewards.

Overview

Shifter Lucky Block is a loot-gambling mod built around one deceptively simple block. Every time you break a Shifter Lucky Block, something happens — sometimes great, sometimes dangerous. Beyond the block itself, the mod introduces a full set of powerful custom weapons, armor, and magic trinkets, three unique hostile creatures, and two "instant structure" items that summon entire mini-dungeons full of enemies and treasure.

What It Adds

Blocks

• Shifter Lucky Block — the central gamble block. Mineable with a pickaxe.
• Shifter Ore — a tougher deepslate-style ore that always drops a random piece of Shifter armor when mined with a tool.

Weapons & Combat Items

• Shifter Sword — an extremely hard-hitting blade that also lets you teleport by throwing a pearl.
• Shifter Bow — fires a rapid volley of 14 high-damage arrows for free while you hold the draw.
• Shifter Warhammer and Shifter Rift Cleaver — additional heavy melee weapons found as loot.
• Shifter Storm Staff — calls down a lightning bolt in front of you on a cooldown.

Armor

• Shifter Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, Boots — a netherite-tier armor set. Wearing the full set grants bonus max health and temporary Strength, Speed, Resistance, and Regeneration.

Trinkets & Consumables

• Shifter Apple — a special food/healing item.
• Shifter Rift Pearl — a throwable teleport pearl.
• Shifter Guardian Totem — activate for temporary Resistance and heavy Absorption on a cooldown.
• Shifter Sunward Charm — grants temporary Fire Resistance and Resistance on a cooldown.
• Shifter Wraith Elixir — a special potion-like item.
• Shifter Temple Seal — right-click a block to construct a guarded stone temple with loot pedestals and enemies.
• Shifter Rift Beacon — right-click a block to construct a smaller "Rift Sanctum" arena with loot and defenders.

Creatures

• Shifter Guardian — a massive, fireproof golem-like boss that only targets players. Drops a Shifter Sword and a random armor piece on death.
• Shifter Rift Wraith — a fast, fireproof melee attacker that sometimes drops a Shifter Rift Pearl.
• Shifter Rift Archer — a fireproof ranged skeleton-type attacker that occasionally drops a Shifter Guardian Totem.

All three creatures also have spawn eggs available in creative inventories for direct spawning.

How To Use

• Placing the block: Craft or obtain a Shifter Lucky Block and place it like any normal block. Break it with a pickaxe to trigger its reward.
• Weapons and trinkets: Hold the item and use your normal attack or right-click ("use") action, depending on the item — bows and staves fire on use, swords and pearls teleport on use, totems and charms grant buffs on use.
• Structure items: Right-click the Shifter Temple Seal or Shifter Rift Beacon on top of a block to instantly build a structure at that location. Both structures spawn hostile guardians and place extra Shifter Lucky Blocks as bonus rewards inside — be ready to fight before looting.
• Armor: Equip all four Shifter armor pieces at once to activate the set bonus of extra health and combat buffs.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Shifter Lucky Block is the main craftable item and the gateway to everything else in the mod:

Every other item in the mod — weapons, armor, trinkets, and structure items — is obtained as a random drop from breaking Shifter Lucky Blocks, mining Shifter Ore, or defeating the mod's unique creatures. There is no direct crafting recipe for armor, weapons, or trinkets; you must gamble for them.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Random rewards: Breaking a Shifter Lucky Block always gives exactly one outcome — never more. Outcomes range from top-tier weapons and armor, stacks of diamonds/netherite/emeralds, enchanted golden apples, and unique trinkets, to negative surprises like poison, wither, a live TNT, or a hostile mob spawn (Rift Wraith, Rift Archer, or the powerful Shifter Guardian).
• Fireproof enemies: All three Shifter creatures are immune to fire, lava, and sunlight, and will only ever target players — they won't fight other mobs.
• Structure encounters: The Temple Seal and Rift Beacon each build a walled arena stocked with multiple tough enemies (including Shifter Guardians, Wither Skeletons, or Husks) guarding several bonus Shifter Lucky Blocks placed on pedestals — clearing the fight lets you gamble even more.
• Set bonus: Wearing the complete Shifter armor set adds 22 extra hearts of max health and refreshes Strength, Speed, Resistance, and Regeneration while worn.

Progression And Strategy

• Start by breaking a handful of Shifter Lucky Blocks to gather early gear and materials — expect occasional combat or explosions as a downside.
• Use early loot (netherite, emeralds, diamonds) to support your normal survival progression while hunting for Shifter weapons and armor pieces.
• Once you find a Shifter Temple Seal or Rift Beacon, use it deliberately when you're prepared for a fight — these structures reward you with guaranteed extra Lucky Blocks but throw multiple strong defenders at you at once, including the very tough Shifter Guardian.
• Prioritize collecting a full Shifter armor set for its large health and buff bonus, then lean on the Shifter Sword's teleport, the Bow's arrow volley, and the Storm Staff's lightning strike to take down Guardians and clear structure encounters efficiently.
