Mod Wiki
Nuclear Lucky Block
Quickstart
- Craft a Nuclear Lucky Block using the recipe below (or grab one from the crafting book — the recipe is automatically unlocked for all players).
- Place the block down anywhere you're ready for a surprise.
- Break it with a pickaxe (iron or better is required) and watch for the reward: an item, a monster ambush, or an explosion.
- Loot whatever drops, run from whatever spawns, and keep breaking blocks to try your luck again — bonus Nuclear Lucky Blocks can even drop as rewards.

Overview
The Nuclear Lucky Block is a gamble-in-a-block: place it, break it, and find out what fate has in store. Rewards range from powerful gear and stacks of valuable loot to dangerous hostile encounters and outright explosions. It's built around risk and reward — some outcomes make you stronger, others try to kill you.
What It Adds
- Nuclear Lucky Block — the core block. Breaking it triggers a random reward or hazard.
- Hazmat Armor Set — Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, and Boots, useful for surviving radioactive and explosive outcomes.
- Nuclear Machete — a heavy, slow, netherite-tier blade that boosts your speed on hit.
- Thunder Staff — calls down lightning.
- Nuclear Grenades — thrown explosives.
- Radioactive Apple — a strange, unstable fruit with a mix of buffs and debuffs.
- Atomic Scientist — a tough hostile mob that can appear when the block reveals a research facility encounter.
- Radioactive Growth effect — a status effect that dramatically increases the size of whoever is affected.
How To Use
Place the Nuclear Lucky Block like a normal block, then mine it with a pickaxe — it requires at least an iron pickaxe to break. The moment it breaks, it plays a distinct rumbling sound and immediately resolves its reward. There is no way to "peek" at what a block will give beforehand — that's the point of a lucky block.
Some outcomes drop items directly at the block's location, some spawn hostile mobs to fight, and some trigger a big explosion, so it's wise to keep some distance and be ready to fight or flee when the block breaks.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the Nuclear Lucky Block using gold blocks, TNT, and a Totem of Undying:
The crafting recipe is automatically added to every player's recipe book on login, so you can always check the shape in your crafting table's recipe list even without the ingredients in hand.
Hazmat armor, weapons, and apples aren't crafted directly — they're obtained only as rewards from breaking Nuclear Lucky Blocks.
Abilities And Mechanics
Breaking a Nuclear Lucky Block randomly triggers one of many possible outcomes, including:
| Outcome | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Hazmat Armor | Drops one piece of hazmat armor (helmet, chestplate, leggings, or boots) |
| Nuclear Machete | Drops a heavy netherite-tier sword that grants Speed on hit but slowly damages itself with use |
| Thunder Staff | Drops a staff that calls down lightning |
| Nuclear Explosion | Detonates a powerful explosion at the block's location — stand back! |
| Nuclear Grenades | Drops several throwable explosives |
| Diamonds / Emeralds / Golden Apples | Drops a stack of valuable vanilla items |
| Netherite Ingots | Drops rare netherite ingots |
| Enchanted Golden Apple | Drops a single Notch Apple |
| Hostile Mobs | Spawns dangerous enemies to fight on the spot |
| Nuclear Machete / Radioactive Apple | Bonus weapon or food drop |
| Atomic Research Facility Encounter | Spawns an underground-style encounter guarded by Atomic Scientists |
Atomic Scientists are heavily armored, high-health hostile mobs (much tougher than a normal zombie) that guard a reward. Defeating all the scientists in the encounter releases the reward — a stack of bonus Nuclear Lucky Blocks — letting you keep the loop going.
Radioactive Apple: eating one gives you a green radioactive glow, greatly increases your size for about a minute, and grants Nausea, Strength V, and Resistance simultaneously — a powerful but disorienting buff.
Radioactive Growth effect: while affected, an entity's hitbox and eye height scale up dramatically, making the creature (or you) visibly larger.
Progression And Strategy
- Keep a Nuclear Lucky Block or two on hand as a "boost" tool — breaking one can hand you free diamonds, emeralds, netherite, or enchanted golden apples.
- Wear hazmat armor before breaking blocks repeatedly, since explosions and hostile spawns are common outcomes.
- If an Atomic Research Facility encounter triggers, be ready for a real fight — Atomic Scientists hit hard and have high health, but defeating them all rewards you with more Nuclear Lucky Blocks, letting you chain your luck further.
- Because bonus Lucky Blocks can drop as a reward, a single crafted block can snowball into an entire farm of rewards and encounters if you're patient (and lucky).
