Description

This mod brings you a completely new set of blocks to decorate and build with. It adds a Sci-Fi aesthetic to your game. I specifically added this to go with my UFO structure as something to build the inside of the ship with or decorate the outer hull, but you use it as you like. Note: Some of the blocks are supposed to be self lighting, but I never could get that to work. Feel free to remix it and see if you can make that work if you like. I may be updating this with more blocks in the future, but I am not quite sure if I will or not. I will gladly field any suggestion you have, so hit me up in the comment section!

Sci Fi Block Expansion Pack

Quickstart

  1. Open the Creative inventory and browse the Construction category for the sci-fi block catalog.
  2. Start with Smooth Dark Titanium Hull Plating for walls, Polished Dark Metallic Floor Tile for decks, and Recessed Ceiling Panel with LED Strip overhead.
  3. Add Neon Cyan LED Trim, Lighted Pathway Floor Tile, or a Circular Plasma Light Fixture to establish illuminated routes.
  4. Place a Tech Wall Interface Panel and interact with it to open the SCI-FI FABRICATION TERMINAL catalog.
  5. For a functional test, place any Neon Energy Cube on top of another block and interact with the cube. The block underneath becomes a redstone block while the cube is online.
  6. Break placed blocks with a pickaxe when possible. Sci-fi blocks drop themselves so you can reposition them while building.

Overview

Sci Fi Block Expansion Pack is a construction-focused palette for spaceships, alien saucers, research stations, laboratories, cargo bays, reactors, and other futuristic structures.

Its visual language combines:

  • Dark titanium, steel, carbon fiber, and composite armor
  • Clean tiled panels for large walls and floors
  • Vents, conduits, pipes, relays, consoles, and structural trim
  • Cyan, amber, lime, blue, green, yellow, and orange glowing accents
  • White laboratory and spacecraft components

Energy Cubes

The pack includes four interactive energy cubes:

  • Neon Green Energy Cube
  • Neon Blue Energy Cube
  • Neon Yellow Energy Cube
  • Neon Orange Energy Cube

They are translucent glowing blocks that can be used as power-control ornaments or redstone triggers.

White Facility and Ship Components

The white collection provides a brighter alternative to the dark metallic palette:

  • White Hull Block
  • White Tech Block
  • White Reactor Block
  • White Bio-Lab Block
  • White Digital Floor Block
  • White Reactor Floor Block
  • White Lab Ceiling Block
  • White Access Block
  • White Data Console Block
  • White Cable Conduit Block
  • White Red Cable Conduit Block
  • White Blue Cable Conduit Block
  • White Green Cable Conduit Block
  • White Airlock Frame Block
  • White Vent Block
  • White Warning Block
  • White Storage Crate Block

Use these together for clean laboratories, medical bays, white spacecraft interiors, access corridors, reactor rooms, and storage areas.

Additional Hazard Patterns

Three patterned hazard blocks provide more industrial marking options:

  • Uploaded Pattern Hazard Block
  • Vertical Black and Yellow Hazard Block
  • Horizontal Black and Yellow Hazard Block

How To Use

Building a Room

A simple room can be assembled as follows:

  1. Build the shell with Smooth Dark Titanium Hull Plating, Beveled Steel Wall Panels, or White Hull Blocks.
  2. Choose a floor style based on the room:
    • Polished tiles for offices and crew areas
    • Grates for maintenance areas
    • Cargo flooring for storage bays
    • Reactor flooring for power rooms
  3. Add ceiling panels and ventilation grids.
  4. Frame corners, doors, and machinery with Metal Corner Molding and Pillar Blocks.
  5. Run conduits and pipes along the walls or ceiling.
  6. Finish the room with glass, neon trim, consoles, warning markings, or energy barriers.

Creating Corridors

For a clean corridor, combine:

  • Dark hull or white hull walls
  • A repeating floor tile
  • A lighted pathway down one side or through the center
  • Neon trim at door height
  • Cable conduits along the ceiling
  • Airlock frames at room entrances
  • Hazard blocks near machinery or restricted doors

The pack’s repeating textures are intended for long uninterrupted walls, floors, and utility runs.

Using the Tech Wall Interface Panel

Place a Tech Wall Interface Panel and interact with it. A catalog screen displays the available architecture groups:

  • Hull materials
  • Deck and flooring materials
  • Systems such as vents, pipes, relays, and terminals
  • Shielded glass and plasma barriers
  • Neon trim, molding, and hazard stripes

Select Close catalog to dismiss the screen. The interface is a catalog and display block; it does not operate doors, machines, or inventories.

Using Energy Cubes

Energy cubes provide the pack’s main interactive mechanic.

  1. Place an energy cube on top of any block.
  2. Interact with the cube.
  3. The block directly underneath is temporarily replaced by a redstone block.
  4. The cube displays an online message and produces a sound and particle pulse.
  5. Interact with the same cube again to turn it offline.
  6. The original block underneath is restored.

When an online energy cube is broken, its linked block is restored automatically. If there is no block beneath the cube, interacting with it has no effect.

This allows energy cubes to act as:

  • Decorative power cores
  • Redstone power sources
  • Reactor control indicators
  • Emergency activation points
  • Color-coded control nodes

The cube only affects the block immediately below it. It does not permanently consume or destroy that block.

Lighting and Emissive Details

Glowing visual details include:

  • Lighted pathway strips
  • Neon LED trims
  • Plasma pipes
  • Coolant indicators
  • Plasma light fixtures
  • Energy barriers
  • Energy cubes
  • Terminal and interface screens
  • Selected warning and technical blocks

Use dark hull panels around luminous blocks to make their colors stand out. Cyan and blue work well for navigation and power systems, lime for laboratories, amber and yellow for warnings, and orange for reactor or high-energy areas.

Crafting And Obtaining

All catalog blocks can be placed directly from the Creative inventory. The following blocks also have crafting-table recipes.

Hazard Blocks

Each hazard recipe produces 8 blocks.

  • Horizontal hazard bands:
  • Uploaded-pattern hazard block:
  • Vertical hazard stripes:

The striped recipes use black and yellow dye. The uploaded-pattern version also uses an iron ingot.

Energy Cubes

Each energy cube recipe produces 1 cube and uses glass, glowstone dust, and a dye matching the cube’s color.

CubeRecipe
Neon Blue Energy Cube
Neon Green Energy Cube
Neon Orange Energy Cube
Neon Yellow Energy Cube

White Hull and Facility Blocks

Each recipe in this group produces 8 blocks.

BlockRecipe
White Access Block
White Airlock Frame Block
White Bio-Lab Block
White Blue Cable Conduit Block
White Cable Conduit Block
White Data Console Block
White Digital Floor Block
White Green Cable Conduit Block
White Hull Block
White Lab Ceiling Block
White Reactor Block
White Reactor Floor Block
White Red Cable Conduit Block
White Storage Crate Block
White Tech Block
White Vent Block
White Warning Block

The white blocks generally combine white concrete and black dye with a themed technical ingredient. Lapis lazuli, redstone, quartz, metal, glowstone, and colored materials distinguish the different facility roles.

Abilities And Mechanics

Recoverable Construction Blocks

Sci-fi blocks drop themselves when broken, making them easy to move and reuse during construction. A pickaxe is the appropriate tool for mining the catalog.

Seamless Repetition

The palette is designed for large-scale construction:

  • Repeat hull panels across large walls.
  • Continue floor tiles through entire decks.
  • Extend conduits in straight runs.
  • Use matching white blocks to maintain a clean facility theme.
  • Combine dark panels with lighted blocks for readable corridors.

Functional Redstone Linking

Energy cubes temporarily convert the block beneath them into a redstone block. This gives a visual and interactive way to power nearby redstone components while keeping the original construction block intact.

Interactive Catalog

The Tech Wall Interface Panel opens an in-game architecture catalog. It is useful as both a decorative terminal and a way to review the pack’s main design groups while building.

Light-Emitting Construction

Several technical, pathway, coolant, and hazard blocks emit light in addition to their glowing textures. Luminous details can therefore serve as both decoration and practical low-light guidance.

Progression And Strategy

This is a building palette rather than a combat or resource-progression system. A useful construction workflow is:

  1. Plan the silhouette with hull plating, composite walls, or white hull blocks.
  2. Divide the interior into decks, corridors, labs, cargo areas, and machine rooms.
  3. Choose a floor language for each room instead of using one tile everywhere.
  4. Install overhead detail with ceiling panels, vents, and plasma fixtures.
  5. Route systems visibly using cable conduits, plasma pipes, coolant lines, and relays.
  6. Mark important areas with neon trim, hazard stripes, warning blocks, and airlock frames.
  7. Add windows and barriers with tinted glass, shielded glass, or plasma barriers.
  8. Finish control areas with interface panels, white data consoles, reactor blocks, and storage crates.
  9. Use energy cubes last to identify active power points or add redstone-controlled functionality.
