Quickstart

1. Travel to a Savanna, Savanna Plateau, or Windswept Savanna biome in the Overworld.
2. Look low to the ground — E-Bola Cells glide just a few blocks above the surface in small groups.
3. Avoid physical contact. Touching an E-Bola Cell inflicts the E-Bola status effect, permanently cutting your maximum health to half a heart.
4. If you want to spawn one manually for testing, find the E-Bola Cell Spawn Egg in the Spawn Eggs creative tab and use it anywhere.

Overview

E-Bola adds a single dangerous hostile mob — the E-Bola Cell — to savanna biomes. It is a small, plankton-green, bee-shaped flying creature that drifts silently near the ground. Its threat is not raw damage but infection: one touch can permanently cripple your health for the rest of your life — unless you deal with the disease before time runs out.

How To Use

Finding E-Bola Cells

E-Bola Cells spawn naturally only in the Overworld in Savanna, Savanna Plateau, and Windswept Savanna biomes. They appear in small groups of 1–2 and fly no higher than roughly 8 blocks above the ground, making them easy to stumble into while exploring.

They will actively chase any player they detect within about 24 blocks.

Avoiding Infection

The safest approach is ranged combat — bows, crossbows, or any ranged weapon let you kill E-Bola Cells without ever getting close. Melee is risky: if the cell touches you, the infection begins.

Abilities And Mechanics

E-Bola Cell (Normal)

• Contact Damage: Touching a cell deals ½ heart of damage. There is a 9-second cooldown between hits from normal cells.
• E-Bola Infection: On contact, the cell applies the E-Bola status effect, which immediately and permanently reduces your maximum health to ½ a heart.
• Immunity After Infection: Once you carry the E-Bola status effect, normal E-Bola Cells can no longer damage you through contact.
• Faster Pursuit: Infected players are chased at a noticeably higher speed than uninfected ones — the cells sense you are already a host.
• Mitosis: E-Bola Cells can occasionally split, producing additional cells nearby.

King E-Bola

• Rare Spawn: There is a small chance for a King E-Bola to appear, either spawning naturally or emerging from normal cell activity.
• Size: Roughly 4× the size of a normal cell — visually unmistakable.
• Boss Bar: A pink progress bar labeled "King E-Bola" appears at the top of the screen when you are near one.
• Still Dangerous to the Infected: Unlike normal cells, the King E-Bola can still damage players who already carry the E-Bola status effect.
• Passive Spawning: The King E-Bola periodically spawns additional normal E-Bola Cells around it.
• Higher Health: The King has significantly more health than a standard cell.

The E-Bola Status Effect

The E-Bola effect is permanent in the sense that it does not fade on its own quickly — and when it finally does expire, the game kills the player outright. There is no natural recovery; the disease always ends fatally if left untreated.

Progression And Strategy

• Early game: Avoid savanna biomes until you have reliable ranged weapons. A single accidental brush with an E-Bola Cell while unarmed can be a death sentence.
• Ranged first: Bows, crossbows, or tridents let you kill cells from a safe distance before they reach you.
• If infected: Your health cap drops to ½ a heart immediately. Prioritize surviving long enough to find any cure or milk bucket (which removes status effects) before the effect's timer runs out — or you will die when it expires.
• King E-Bola: Treat the King as a mini-boss encounter. Its boss bar signals your proximity. Pull it away from its group of spawned cells before engaging, and use ranged attacks. Remember it can still damage you even after infection.
• Player kill reinforcements: There is a chance that killing a player (in multiplayer scenarios) triggers additional E-Bola Cells to spawn nearby — be cautious in PvP-adjacent situations in savanna biomes.
