Quickstart

1. Craft the Ruin Staff using a Wither Skeleton Skull, a Blaze Rod, and a Stick:

1. Place the staff in your hand — it appears in the Combat creative tab as well.
2. Right-click while holding it to fire a destructive beam up to 50 blocks.
3. Watch blocks shatter in a 5-block radius on impact and nearby creatures take massive damage.
4. Wait out the 2-second cooldown before firing again.

Overview

The Ruin Staff is a single-item magic weapon mod. It gives players a devastating area-denial tool capable of obliterating terrain and entities at range. It has limited durability, so each shot costs something — use it wisely.

How To Use

• Right-click (use key) with the Ruin Staff in either hand to fire the beam.
• The beam travels up to 50 blocks in the direction you are looking.
• On impact, it:
  • Destroys blocks in a 5-block radius around the hit point.
  • Deals 100 magic damage to all living creatures within that same radius (you are excluded).
  • Triggers an explosion particle effect and a distinct impact sound.
• A 2-second cooldown applies after each use — the item will visually grey out until it is ready.
• Every use consumes 1 durability. The staff breaks after 256 uses.

Abilities And Mechanics

Destructive Beam

The beam is a raycast fired from your eye position along your look direction. It stops at the first solid block it hits or after 50 blocks. The exact hit point becomes the impact center.

Block Destruction

All breakable blocks within a 5-block sphere centered on the impact point are destroyed. This can carve large craters into terrain or demolish structures rapidly.

Entity Damage

All living entities (except you) within the same 5-block sphere receive 100 points of magic damage — enough to instantly kill most mobs and players.

Cooldown & Durability

• Cooldown: 40 ticks (2 seconds) per shot.
• Durability: 256 shots before the staff breaks.
• The enchantment glint is always active, making the staff visually distinct in your inventory.

Progression And Strategy

• Gather materials in the Nether. Both Wither Skeleton Skulls and Blaze Rods are Nether drops, making this a mid-to-late game weapon.
• Terrain clearing: The 5-block destruction radius makes the staff an efficient tunneling or demolition tool when you need quick results.
• Mob farming: Use it to clear large mob groups in a single shot — 100 magic damage bypasses armor effectively.
• Manage durability: With only 256 uses, avoid wasting shots. Time your right-clicks with the cooldown in mind to maximise efficiency per staff.
• Memory note: At startup, the mod checks your JVM heap and will log a warning if your launcher's memory allocation is set very high. If Minecraft crashes before mods finish loading with an error mentioning G1 virtual space or paging file (Windows error 1455), lower your launcher's allocated RAM to around 1024 MiB or increase your Windows paging file size in System → Advanced → Performance Settings → Virtual Memory.
