Railrunner Battery

Quickstart

1. Craft a Railrunner Battery using the recipe below.
2. Hop into a minecart on some rails.
3. Right-click the minecart while holding the battery to charge it.
4. Push the minecart to get moving — it will now zoom along the track, especially over powered rails.
5. While riding, let go of all steering keys and press spacebar to slam the minecart to an instant stop. Steer again (press forward/back/left/right) to release the brake and continue.

Overview

The Railrunner Battery is a single-use item that supercharges minecarts, giving them a dramatic speed boost on rails. It also grants any rider full manual control over stopping the cart mid-ride, turning ordinary rail travel into a fast, responsive transportation system.

What It Adds

• Railrunner Battery — a glowing, enchantable redstone-themed item found in the Redstone creative menu tab.
• A charging interaction that permanently boosts a minecart's speed.
• An emergency stop/brake mechanic usable by any rider of a boosted or unboosted minecart.

How To Use

• Charging a minecart: Right-click any minecart with the Railrunner Battery in hand. You'll hear a charging sound, and the minecart is now permanently boosted. In Survival mode, one battery is consumed per charge; Creative mode does not consume it.
• Riding boosted: Boosted minecarts reach much higher top speeds than normal — about 3.25x faster on regular rails, and 4x faster on powered rails. They also get a small extra push while accelerating on rails, helping them get up to speed quickly.
• Braking: While riding in any minecart, stop pressing all movement/steering keys and press spacebar (jump) to instantly halt the cart in place. It will stay stopped until you press a movement direction again, at which point it resumes normally.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Speed Boost: Charged minecarts move significantly faster than normal carts, with an even bigger multiplier on powered rails.
• Instant Stop: Any minecart passenger can bring their cart to a complete stop at will by releasing steering and pressing spacebar — useful for precise stops at stations or avoiding collisions.
• Resume Control: Steering in any direction immediately cancels the stop and lets the cart move again.
• Durability Enchanting: The battery item can accept durability-related enchantments if applied via an enchanting table or anvil.

Progression And Strategy

Use Railrunner Batteries to upgrade key minecarts on your rail networks — such as those used for long hauls or powered-rail highways — to drastically cut travel time. Combine the boost with the instant-stop control to build precise, high-speed rail stations where carts can rocket between destinations and still stop cleanly on arrival. Since the battery is consumed on use in Survival, plan your crafting materials (gold, iron, and redstone) accordingly if you want to charge multiple minecarts.
