Power Miner

Quickstart

1. Craft the Power Miner using the recipe below.
2. Keep a stack of Redstone Blocks in your inventory — each shot consumes one as ammo.
3. Hold the Power Miner, aim where you want to dig, and use the item (attack/use button) to fire.
4. Watch a tunnel carve out instantly in front of you. Repeat as long as you have redstone blocks and durability left.

Overview

Power Miner is a single, powerful tool item: a cyberpunk-styled laser weapon that instantly excavates a large tunnel through stone, dirt, and other diggable terrain in the direction you're facing. It doubles as a melee weapon and a very fast-digging tool, but its signature feature is firing a laser blast that clears out a tunnel in seconds.

What It Adds

• Power Miner — an epic-rarity, glowing item that functions as both a sword and a mining tool, with a special "fire" action that blasts a tunnel through terrain.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Power Miner at a crafting table using iron blocks, redstone blocks, a blaze rod, and sticks:

How To Use

• Melee combat: Equip the Power Miner and attack like a sword. It deals solid damage and swings quickly.
• Fast digging: It breaks stone, deepslate, dirt, sand, gravel, obsidian, and ores dramatically faster than normal tools, making it useful even without firing its laser.
• Firing the tunnel blast: Make sure you're carrying at least one Redstone Block. Point where you want to dig and use the item to fire. The blast consumes one Redstone Block from your inventory and instantly clears a tunnel-shaped area in front of you along your line of sight.
  • If you don't have a Redstone Block, an action bar message will warn you that the Power Miner needs one to fire, and nothing will happen.
  • After firing, the weapon needs a brief moment to cool down before it can fire again.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Ammo-based tunneling: Every tunnel blast costs one Redstone Block, so plan your mining trips by stocking up on redstone blocks beforehand.
• Durability: The Power Miner has limited durability and will eventually wear out with use. You can restore its durability by repairing it with Redstone Blocks at an anvil.
• Enchantable: It can be enchanted like a pickaxe, letting you apply pickaxe-compatible enchantments to boost its performance.
• Creative-friendly destruction: It can break blocks in Creative mode just like normal tools, in addition to its special tunneling blast.

Progression And Strategy

• Stock up on Redstone Blocks before heading out to mine — they are both the crafting cost and the ongoing "fuel" for the tunneling blast.
• Use the tunneling blast to quickly clear paths through mountains, cave systems, or mining shafts, saving huge amounts of time compared to manual digging.
• Keep spare Redstone Blocks on hand not just for firing, but also for repairing the tool's durability at an anvil.
• Combine pickaxe enchantments with the Power Miner's already-fast digging speed for an even more efficient mining and tunneling experience.
