Quickstart

1. Craft the Magical Camera using the recipe below, or grab it from the Tools tab in the Creative inventory.
2. Hold the Magical Camera and right-click any living mob to capture it — the mob disappears and a Captured Photograph appears in your inventory (or drops at your feet if your inventory is full).
3. To release the mob, hold the Captured Photograph and right-click any solid block surface. The mob spawns back exactly as it was.

Overview

Phantom Snapshot lets you capture any living mob into a photograph, carry it around, and release it wherever you like. Each photograph preserves the mob's full data — health, name, equipment, tamed status, and more — so nothing is lost in transit.

How To Use

Capturing a Mob

• Hold the Magical Camera and right-click a living mob (players cannot be captured).
• The mob is removed from the world and a Captured Photograph is created, named "[Mob Name] Photograph" in light purple.
• A chime sound plays and a message confirms the capture. The camera has a short cooldown (~1 second) between shots.
• If your inventory is full, the photograph drops on the ground near you.

Inspecting a Photograph

• Hover over a Captured Photograph in your inventory to see its tooltip:
  • Contains: the mob's name (shown in aqua).
  • A reminder that right-clicking the ground will release it.

Releasing a Mob

• Hold the Captured Photograph and right-click a block surface. The mob spawns on that surface facing the same direction as you.
• A teleport sound plays and a message confirms the release.
• The photograph is consumed on use (unless you are in Creative mode).
• If something goes wrong and the mob cannot spawn, you'll see a message: "The photograph flickers, but nothing appears."

Abilities And Mechanics

• Full data preservation — the captured mob retains all its NBT data (name tags, equipment, tame status, age, etc.).
• New UUID on release — the released mob is treated as a brand-new entity, preventing any ID conflicts.
• Creative-friendly — the Magical Camera and Captured Photographs are available directly from the Tools creative tab, and releasing a mob in Creative mode does not consume the photograph.
• Inventory overflow — if your inventory is full when capturing, the photograph automatically drops at your feet so you never lose a capture.

Progression And Strategy

• Use the Magical Camera as a mob transport tool — capture animals or villagers at one location and release them exactly where you need them.
• Photographs stack up to 16, so you can carry a whole menagerie in a single inventory slot.
• Because mob data is fully preserved, you can capture a fully equipped or named mob and move it safely across your world without losing any progress on it.
• The 1-second camera cooldown is short, making it easy to quickly capture several mobs in succession.
