Phantom Facade

v2MC Java 1.21.5

Description

Phantom Facade adds a placeable decorative block that can impersonate any other block: place a Phantom Facade then right-click it while holding any block item to change its appearance, with action-bar feedback and the disguise preserved across saves and synced in multiplayer. By default facades are non-solid so players and mobs can walk through them and they drop as items for easy relocation; right-clicking a Phantom Facade with a stick now toggles a locked/unlocked state—locked facades gain a full-block collision so no one can enter, while unlocked facades remain pass-through. You can craft them from glass and an ender pearl or find them in the Creative inventory; use a block item to disguise and a stick to seal or open, and the lock state is saved and synced for multiplayer.

Mod Wiki

Phantom Facade

Quickstart

  1. Craft a few Phantom Facades (recipe below) or grab them from the Functional tab in the Creative inventory.
  2. Place a Phantom Facade anywhere in the world — it looks like glass by default.
  3. Hold any block item (e.g., a Stone brick or Oak log) and right-click the facade to disguise it as that block. A message in your action bar confirms the change.
  4. Right-click the facade with a Stick to lock it — this gives it solid collision so nothing can pass through. Right-click with a Stick again to unlock it and restore pass-through behaviour.
  5. Break the facade to pick it back up as an item and move it wherever you need.

Overview

Phantom Facade adds a single, clever decorative block that can wear the skin of any other block in the game. Whether you want a hidden passage, a secret door, or just a perfectly matched wall patch, a Phantom Facade lets you fake any block's appearance while controlling whether players and mobs can walk through it.

What It Adds

BlockDescription
Phantom FacadeA placeable block that mimics any other block's appearance. Pass-through by default; can be locked solid with a Stick.

How To Use

Disguising a Facade

Hold a block item in your hand and right-click a placed Phantom Facade. The facade will immediately render as that block. Your action bar shows:

"Phantom Facade now looks like [Block Name]"

You can re-disguise a facade at any time by right-clicking it with a different block item. Air and other Phantom Facades cannot be used as a disguise.

Checking the Current Disguise

Right-click a Phantom Facade with an empty hand (or any non-block, non-stick item) to see what it is currently mimicking and whether it is locked or unlocked — the information appears in your action bar.

Locking and Unlocking

Right-click a Phantom Facade with a Stick to toggle its lock state:

StateCollisionAction-bar Message
UnlockedNone — players and mobs pass through freely"Phantom Facade unlocked: entities can pass through again"
LockedFull-block collision — nothing can enter"Phantom Facade locked: entities can no longer pass through"

Abilities And Mechanics

  • Persistent disguise — the chosen block appearance and lock state are saved to the world and survive restarts.
  • Multiplayer sync — disguise and lock changes are immediately synced to all players on the server.
  • Pass-through by default — an unlocked Phantom Facade has no collision shape, making hidden corridors and secret passages simple to build.
  • Drops as an item — breaking a Phantom Facade (unlocked or locked) returns it to your inventory so it can be relocated without losing its purpose.
  • Strength — Phantom Facades are relatively fragile (similar to glass) and produce glass-like sounds when interacted with.

Progression And Strategy

  • Secret passages — line a corridor with Phantom Facades disguised as the surrounding stone or brick. Leave them unlocked so only players who know the passage exists can walk through.
  • Hidden storage rooms — disguise a Phantom Facade as a wall block in front of a door or chest room. Lock it to fool anyone who tries to walk through; unlock it when you want access.
  • Camouflaged builds — patch holes or irregularities in a build with Phantom Facades set to match the surrounding material, avoiding the need to source rare or hard-to-reach blocks.
  • Traps and puzzles — mix locked and unlocked facades that look identical to create deceptive obstacle courses or escape rooms for other players.
