One Wish Willow

Quickstart

1. Obtain a One Wish Willow from the Tools tab in Creative mode, or craft one after joining a world.
2. Hold it in your main hand or off-hand.
3. Say a wish in chat beginning with one of these openings:
   • I wish
   • I wish for
   • I wish that
   • I wished
   • I wished that
4. Right-click while holding the Willow. Your latest qualifying chat message becomes the wish, the branch snaps, and the item is consumed.

For a first test, try:

I wish for speed and diamonds

The Willow interprets descriptive wording and grants one or more meaningful results. It also glints and plays its theme when first held.

Overview

The One Wish Willow is a single-use item that turns a spoken wish into gameplay. It can grant abilities, items, creatures, structures, travel, world-rule changes, or a useful fallback reward when the request is strange or impossible.

A wish is personal and normally remains claimed until the wisher dies. You can only have one active wish at a time.

Ordinary chat does not count. The message must begin with a supported wish introduction before the Willow will snap.

Crafting And Obtaining

The recipe is unlocked automatically when you enter a world.

The recipe uses one Nether Star and two Sticks to produce one One Wish Willow. The item does not stack, so each branch must be used separately.

In Creative mode, look for it in the Tools item group.

How To Use

Making a wish

Type the complete wish in chat first, then right-click with the Willow. Examples include:

• I wish for speed
• I wish that I could breathe underwater
• I wish for a tree
• I wished that I had diamonds
• I wish for a safe journey to the Nether

The Willow recognizes synonyms, descriptive phrases, and some close misspellings. Multiple ideas in one wish can produce multiple results.

If the message does not use a supported opening, the Willow refuses to snap and is not consumed. If you already have an active wish, it also refuses to snap.

Wishes that target another player

If your wish contains another player's name, the Willow treats that player as the target instead of granting you a normal reward. The target receives a demonic curse with:

• Darkness and blindness
• Weakness and slowness
• Unluck
• Soul and smoke effects
• Occasional magic damage, short random teleports, cave sounds, or selected-item drops
• Repeated unsettling whispers

Targeted wishes are dangerous in multiplayer. The curse lasts until the target dies or another player dispels it.

Dispelling a wish

A player can hold a One Wish Willow and right-click another player to remove that player's active wish. The dispelling branch is consumed only when a wish is successfully removed.

The affected player can make another wish after being dispelled. Right-clicking a player with no active wish does not consume the Willow.

Forbidden wishes

The Willow refuses requests for more Willows or more wishes. These requests do not snap the branch, but the rejected wish must be replaced with a different one.

Abilities And Mechanics

Personal abilities

The following types of wording produce long-lasting effects on the wisher:

Flight-like wishes grant temporary flight controls rather than permanent creative mode. A wish containing wings or elytra also gives an Elytra.

Materials and items

The Willow can answer requests for several useful items:

• Diamond: 64 diamonds, followed by a temporary boon that produces another diamond periodically
• Gold or wealth: 64 gold ingots and periodic gold
• Emerald: 64 emeralds and periodic emeralds
• Nether quartz: 64 quartz
• Netherite: 16 netherite ingots
• Elytra: 1 Elytra
• Trident: 1 Trident
• Turtle: 1 Turtle Helmet, or turtle eggs when eggs are requested specifically
• Eggs: 16 eggs
• Saddle: 1 Saddle
• Bucket: 1 Bucket

Periodic material rewards are generated while the related wish remains active.

Creatures and creations

Wishes can create bounded additions near the wisher:

• Tree, forest, or wood: A conjured oak tree
• Geode, amethyst, or crystal: An amethyst geode
• Iceberg: A small iceberg
• Pigs: Two pigs
• Pandas: Two pandas
• Cows or milk: Two cows
• Chickens: Two chickens

Choose an open area before making a structural wish.

Travel and utility

Some wishes perform immediate actions:

• Teleport, warp, or blink: Teleports you to the current world's spawn
• Nether: Sends you to the Nether's spawn
• The End: Sends you to the End's spawn
• Dimension: Moves you between the Overworld and Nether
• Set spawn, spawn point, or bed spawn: Sets your respawn point at your current location
• Full health: Restores health and grants absorption
• Clear or erase my inventory: Drops the contents of your inventory

Be careful with destructive wording such as “explode,” “destroy,” “TNT,” or “erase gravity.” These requests create a dramatic local reality effect and grant protection such as fire resistance, night vision, and slow falling, but do not leave permanent world destruction behind.

World rules

A wish can change several world-wide rules, affecting everyone in the world rather than only the wisher. Supported subjects include:

• Weather cycling
• Daylight cycling
• Raids
• Entity drops and mob loot
• Mob spawning
• Wandering trader spawning
• Fall damage
• Keep inventory
• Mob griefing

The Willow uses special wording for these requests:

• “Re-exist,” “enable,” or “turn on” enables the named rule.
• “Exist,” “disable,” or “turn off” disables the named rule.

For example, a wish about mob spawning can say that mob spawning should “re-exist” to enable it or “not exist” to disable it. World-rule changes affect the world directly and are not merely personal effects.

Unusual or unknown wishes

The Willow does not simply reject an unfamiliar request. It first looks for related ideas and translates synonyms or close misspellings. If it still cannot identify a specific result, it grants a useful fallback such as:

• Luck and regeneration
• Golden apples
• Resistance and absorption
• Speed and jump boost
• A mixture of useful effects and a golden apple

Progression And Strategy

• Save each Willow for a clear goal: combat, exploration, resources, travel, or utility.
• Combine related requests in one sentence, such as I wish for speed, strength, and fire resistance.
• Make material wishes in a safe location so the initial reward and periodic items do not fill your inventory unexpectedly.
• Avoid including another player's name unless you deliberately want to curse that player.
• Do not use destructive, self-harm, or inventory-clearing wording casually.
• Death removes the wisher's active personal effects and resets the one-wish-per-life limit. The Willow itself is still consumed when the wish is granted.
• Another player can dispel an active wish with their own Willow, allowing the affected player to make a new wish.
