Oak Acorn

Quickstart

1. Grab an axe and find an oak tree.
2. Right-click (or interact with) an oak log or oak wood block using the axe to strip it, just like normal wood stripping. Doing this has a chance to reward Inner Oak Bark.
3. Break or wait for oak leaves to decay — leaves have a small chance to drop an Oak Acorn.
4. Turn Oak Acorns into Leached Acorns, grind those into Acorn Flour, and bake it into breads, cookies, and pancakes.
5. Combine Inner Oak Bark with a brewed Potato Spirit to make the Oak Bark Tincture, a quick-healing forest drink.

Overview

Oak Acorn turns everyday oak trees into a small foraging and cooking loop. Stripping oak logs can expose Inner Oak Bark, and oak leaves occasionally drop acorns as they break or naturally decay. From there, players process acorns into flour for baked goods, or combine bark with a potato-based elixir to brew a fast-acting healing tincture.

How To Use

Gathering Acorns: Break oak leaves (or let them naturally decay) while standing nearby — there's a small chance each leaf yields an Oak Acorn, and a much smaller chance it also yields an apple.

Stripping Bark: Use any axe on an oak log or oak wood block to strip it as normal. Each successful stripping interaction has a solid chance to also produce Inner Oak Bark.

Cooking: Process acorns into Leached Acorns, then into Acorn Flour, which is the base ingredient for Acorn Bread, Acorn Cookies, and Acorn Pancakes. Eat these like any other food for nutrition and saturation.

Brewing the Tincture: Craft Potato Spirit from a potato, sugar, and an awkward potion (a glass bottle is returned). Combine Potato Spirit with Inner Oak Bark to create the Oak Bark Tincture. Drink it for a fast, always-usable healing effect.

• Leaf Drops: Breaking or decaying oak leaves has a small independent chance to drop an Oak Acorn, and a separate smaller chance to drop an apple.
• Bark Stripping: Using an axe on an oak log or oak wood block strips it normally, with an added chance of yielding Inner Oak Bark on top of the usual stripped wood result.
• Tincture Drinking: The Oak Bark Tincture can always be consumed regardless of hunger level, and applies a fast-acting healing effect when drunk.

Progression And Strategy

Start by farming oak leaves for acorns while stripping nearby logs for bark — both are passive byproducts of normal woodcutting. Stockpile Leached Acorns and Acorn Flour to keep a steady supply of baked foods for exploring. Save Inner Oak Bark for brewing Oak Bark Tincture, a cheap and fast emergency heal that's especially useful early on before better potions are available.
