Marauder Monkey
Quickstart
-
Find a Marauder Monkey on the surface of a jungle, forest, or plains biome in low light, or search the Creative inventory for the Marauder Monkey Spawn Egg.
-
Hold an apple and interact with an untamed monkey. One apple tames it.
-
Interact with your tamed monkey again to open Monkey Commands.
-
Try one of the three commands:
- Train — improves its health and attack power over time.
- Ride — lets you mount and control it.
- Attack — orders it to defend you and fight nearby targets.
-
To summon one directly, use:
/summon com_marauder_monkey_m4acl3z4:mypillager
Use the normal interact and mount controls for feeding, commanding, riding, and dismounting.
Overview
Marauder Monkey adds a hostile monkey companion that can be tamed with apples. A tamed monkey follows its owner, persists in the world, can be trained through several stages, and can be commanded to ride or fight.
Untamed monkeys behave like marauding illagers. They can use ranged attacks, join patrols and raids, and attack nearby players and other targets.
What It Adds
- Marauder Monkey mob
- Marauder Monkey Spawn Egg
- Apple taming
- Three command modes: Train, Ride, and Attack
- Four training stages
- A one-player rideable mount
- A five-slot owner-restricted inventory
- Pickaxe equipment support
- A corpse left behind when a monkey dies
- Natural spawning in jungle, forest, and plains biomes
- Patrol and raid participation for untamed monkeys
How To Use
Taming
Approach an untamed Marauder Monkey with an apple and interact with it. The apple is consumed when the monkey is tamed.
After taming:
- The monkey becomes persistent.
- It follows its owner and can teleport closer when it gets separated.
- It no longer behaves as an untamed raider.
- Interacting with it opens the Marauder Monkey command menu.
Command Menu
Interact with a tamed monkey to choose:
| Command | Result |
|---|---|
| Train | Makes the monkey sit and begin its training sequence. |
| Ride | Enables mounting and player control. |
| Attack | Makes the monkey seek targets and defend its owner. |
Only one command mode is active at a time. Leaving Ride mode returns the monkey to its command state. Use Stop Attacking while Attack mode is active to return to the regular command menu.
Riding
Choose Ride from the command menu, then interact with the monkey using the Mount prompt.
- One player can ride at a time.
- The rider controls the monkey with the usual movement controls.
- Dismount using the normal mount dismount control.
- The monkey returns to its command state after the rider leaves.
Attacking
Choose Attack to place the monkey in combat mode. It can:
- Seek monsters within 24 blocks when it has a clear view.
- Attack iron golems within 24 blocks.
- Retaliate against entities that hurt its owner within 32 blocks.
- Use melee attacks while tracking its target.
Interact with the monkey and choose Stop Attacking when you want it to stop combat mode.
Crafting And Obtaining
There are no custom crafting recipes for Marauder Monkey.
Natural Spawning
Untamed Marauder Monkeys spawn:
- On the surface
- In jungle, forest, and plains biomes
- In low light levels from 0 through 7
- In small groups of one or two
They can also appear as members of illager patrols and raids.
Creative And Commands
The Marauder Monkey Spawn Egg is available in the Creative inventory.
You can summon the mob with:
/summon com_marauder_monkey_m4acl3z4:mypillager
Abilities And Mechanics
Training
Select Train from the command menu. The monkey sits still while its training progresses through four 30-second intervals.
A complete training session takes about two minutes. During training, interacting with the monkey displays a Wake prompt. Waking it early stops the training sequence. A fully trained monkey remains seated until you choose Wake.
| Stage | Health | Attack damage |
|---|---|---|
| Tamed | 24 | 6 |
| Training stage 1 | 32 | 8 |
| Training stage 2 | 40 | 10 |
| Training stage 3 | 48 | 12 |
| Fully trained | 60 | 15 |
For the strongest companion, allow the entire training sequence to finish before waking it.
Pickaxes And Inventory
A tamed monkey can be given one of these pickaxes:
- Wooden Pickaxe
- Stone Pickaxe
- Iron Pickaxe
- Golden Pickaxe
- Diamond Pickaxe
- Netherite Pickaxe
Hold the pickaxe and interact with the monkey, then use the Give Pickaxe prompt. The monkey can also pick up nearby items and has a five-slot inventory restricted to its owner.
Untamed Combat
Untamed Marauder Monkeys are hostile and can target:
- Players
- Adult villagers
- Wandering traders
- Iron golems
They normally use ranged attacks with arrows and can switch to melee combat while underwater. A monkey may carry a crossbow.
Drops
When killed, a Marauder Monkey can drop:
- 0–2 arrows
- 0–2 leather when killed by a player
- An apple with a base 20% chance when killed by a player
- Equipment such as a crossbow when carried
Looting can affect some drops.
Monkey Corpses
When a Marauder Monkey dies, it leaves a persistent corpse at its death location.
Interact with the corpse to Eat Monkey:
- Restores up to 6 health if you are injured.
- Grants the Saturation effect.
- Consumes and removes the corpse.
- Does not produce a food item for your inventory.
A corpse can also be summoned directly with:
/summon com_marauder_monkey_m4acl3z4:mypillager_corpse
Progression And Strategy
- Tame a monkey as soon as possible with an apple to turn a dangerous raider into a permanent companion.
- Train it fully before taking it into difficult fights; its health rises from 24 to 60 and its attack damage from 6 to 15.
- Use Attack mode when exploring dangerous areas or defending against monsters.
- Use Ride mode for quick travel and direct control.
- Keep the monkey away from hazards such as lava, which damages it over time.
- Carry spare apples so you can tame another monkey if a companion is lost.
