Magmafall Dragon
Quickstart
- Craft a Magma Gate at a crafting table:
- Place the block and interact with it to travel to the Magmafall Wastes. No portal frame is needed. Interact with the gate in the Wastes to return to your Overworld spawn.
- Bring weapons, armor, and healing items. Look out for falling meteors, jumping Cinderlings, and the flying dragon near the arrival area.
In Creative mode, you can also use the Magmafall Dragon and Cinderling spawn eggs to try out the mobs.
Overview
Magmafall Dragon sends you to a dark, lava-scarred wasteland for a boss fight. The terrain is made up of rolling volcanic ground, with lava, fire-like meteor showers, and hostile creatures. The dimension stays at night while players are there.

How To Use
- Travel: Place and interact with a Magma Gate. A gate is also placed near the Wastes’ arrival point; use it to return to the Overworld.
- Explore: Cinderstone covers much of the surface, with Emberrock beneath it and Black Basalt deeper down. Glass Slag appears along the shores.
- Fight: Cinderlings may appear near you as you explore. The Magmafall Dragon is spawned near the arrival area when you enter if one is not already nearby.
Crafting And Obtaining
The Magma Gate is crafted from obsidian, blaze powder, and an ender eye using the recipe in Quickstart. The volcanic blocks occur in the Wastes and can be mined with a pickaxe.
Defeating the Magmafall Dragon drops one Dragon’s Magma Heart. Cinderlings can drop magma cream.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Meteor showers: Meteors fall near players in the Wastes, trailing flame as they descend. An impact deals 5 hearts of damage to players close to it and sets them on fire.
- Dragon’s meteor attack: The boss can also call down a meteor near its target.
- Fire breath: The dragon breathes a line of fire toward a nearby player. At close range, it deals 3 hearts of damage and sets the target on fire.
- Cinderlings: These hostile mobs jump toward players to attack.
- Fire immunity: Both the dragon and Cinderlings are immune to fire.
Progression And Strategy
Watch for a meteor’s falling flame trail and move away from its landing area before impact. Keep moving during the dragon fight, and be ready to dodge both its breath and meteors. Deal with nearby Cinderlings so they do not distract you while you attack the boss. Bring strong armor, a ranged weapon, and healing supplies for the Wastes.
