- Place the Lag Reaper Block anywhere in your world. It immediately begins its purge timer.
- Open the Lag Reaper Book (tap/click with it in hand) to configure what gets cleared, set the purge interval, and manage all settings.
- Drop an upgrade item onto or next to the block to expand its cleaning radius.
Overview
Lag Reaper Block is a performance-aid addon that automatically removes dropped items and/or hostile mobs from a configurable radius around a placed block. A shared purge timer fires on a schedule you choose, warns players before each clear, counts down the final seconds, and announces when the purge completes. The result is a cleaner, smoother world — especially on busy multiplayer servers or large survival worlds.
What It Adds
| Item / Block | Description |
|---|
| Lag Reaper Block | Placeable block that runs automatic timed purges in a radius around itself. |
| Lag Reaper Book | Configuration guide and settings UI for all Lag Reaper Blocks on the world. |
| Purgatory Flame | Hand tool that instantly removes selected block types and leaves a decorative green fire trail while held. |
How To Use
Lag Reaper Block
Place the block wherever you want purging to occur — a farm, mob grinder, or busy trading hall are good candidates. The block:
- Runs on a shared purge timer (1–5 minutes, your choice).
- Warns players 30 seconds before each purge.
- Counts down 10 to 1 in the final seconds.
- Announces in chat when the clear finishes.
- Emits a faint light and has a dark-red map color so it is easy to spot.
- Drops nothing when broken, so place it carefully.
Configuring with the Lag Reaper Book
Open the book any time to access a full settings UI:
- Toggle item clearing (dropped items) and/or mob clearing (hostile mobs).
- Set the purge interval — 5, 4, 3, 2, or 1 minute.
- Manage warnings and countdown announcements.
- Edit the Mob Disappear List — choose exactly which mob types are removed within ~96 blocks of each player.
- Configure upgrade broadcast messages.
- Choose which blocks the Purgatory Flame will destroy (persistent per-player setting).
- Access the built-in Addon Wiki for in-game help.
Radius Preview
- Sneak + use a Stick while near a Lag Reaper Block to preview its current cleaning radius as a particle ring.
- Enable Show Radius in the book to keep a persistent low-particle flame ring visible around the block at all times, with an action-bar readout of the current radius.
- An optional FPS Lag HUD can be enabled to monitor performance in the action bar.
Purgatory Flame
- Click the item in your inventory to instantly remove all blocks of the configured types in a targeted area. A multi-line chat summary shows the total count of blocks removed.
- Hold it in your hand while walking to leave a harmless green fire-like trail that fades after ~2 seconds. This trail effect can be toggled in settings.

Abilities And Mechanics
Radius Upgrades
Drop upgrade items directly onto or next to a placed Lag Reaper Block to increase its purge radius:
| Upgrade Item | Radius |
|---|
| (default, no upgrade) | 10 blocks |
| Gold Block | 25 blocks |
| Diamond | 40 blocks |
| Netherite Scrap | 60 blocks |
| Nether Star | 90 blocks |
Upgrades are scanned automatically every second. Only valid upgrade items are accepted; an invalid drop shows a brief error message.
Purge Sequence
Each purge cycle follows this sequence:
- Timer counts down to 30 seconds remaining → warning broadcast.
- Timer reaches 10 seconds → 10…1 countdown in chat/action bar.
- Purge fires — all targeted dropped items and/or hostile mobs within the radius are removed.
- Completion announcement is sent to all players.
Mob Disappear List
Separate from the main purge, the Mob Disappear List watches for specific mob types near players (within ~96 blocks) on a 5-second scan cycle and removes them continuously — not just at purge time. Manage which mobs are on this list via the Lag Reaper Book.
Progression And Strategy
- Start small — place one Lag Reaper Block at the default 10-block radius near a mob farm or item-heavy area and use the 5-minute timer to begin.
- Upgrade the radius gradually using gold blocks first, then diamonds, netherite scrap, and finally a nether star for maximum 90-block coverage.
- Use the Mob Disappear List for passive, continuous mob removal in areas you frequent — this works independently of the purge timer.
- Purgatory Flame is ideal for one-time cleanup jobs: configure your target blocks in the Lag Reaper Book, then click the flame in your inventory to clear them instantly with a full report.
- On servers, coordinate the shared purge interval with other players so warnings are expected and nobody loses important dropped items by accident. Set a longer interval (4–5 minutes) in active areas.
- Enable Show Radius with the flame rings to visually confirm coverage before committing to an upgrade — the action-bar readout confirms the exact radius at a glance.
