Lag Reaper Block
Quickstart
- Survival players – open your inventory and craft the Lag Reaper Block at a crafting table (see recipe below), then place it anywhere in your world.
- Creative players – a full starter kit (Lag Reaper Block, Purgatory Flame, and Lag Reaper Book) is given to you automatically on first join.
- Once placed, the block immediately begins a 5-minute purge timer. Dropped items and hostile mobs within a 10-block radius are cleared when the timer expires.
- Open the Lag Reaper Book (given to all players on first join) to configure what gets purged, adjust timing, and more.
Overview
The Lag Reaper Block is an automation tool designed to keep your world running smoothly by periodically clearing nearby dropped items and hostile mobs. You place the block, set a timer interval, and it handles the rest — complete with broadcast warnings, a final countdown, and a completion announcement so nobody is caught off-guard.
What It Adds
| Item / Block | Description |
|---|
| Lag Reaper Block | The core block. Place it to start automatic purge cycles. |
| Lag Reaper Book | Configuration guide and control panel, given on first join. |
| Purgatory Flame | A special item that removes Lag Reaper Blocks and leaves a decorative walking trail. |
How To Use
Placing the Block
Place the Lag Reaper Block like any normal block. It begins ticking immediately on a default 5-minute purge cycle with a 10-block radius. The block emits a faint light and will not drop itself when broken.
Purge Cycle & Warnings
Each purge cycle works as follows:
- At 30 seconds remaining, a warning is broadcast to all players.
- A 10-to-1 countdown announces the final seconds.
- When the purge fires, a completion message is broadcast and all targeted entities/items in the radius are cleared.
You can set the interval to 5, 4, 3, 2, or 1 minute via the Lag Reaper Book.
Upgrading the Radius
Drop upgrade items directly onto or next to the block to expand its purge radius:
| Upgrade Item | Radius |
|---|
| (default, no upgrade) | 10 blocks |
| Gold Block | 25 blocks |
| Diamond | 40 blocks |
| Netherite Scrap | 60 blocks |
| Nether Star | 90 blocks |
Upgrades are applied in order; drop the item near the block and it will be consumed automatically.
Previewing the Radius
- Sneak + use a Stick on the block to preview the current purge radius as a visible particle ring around the block.
- Enable Show Radius in the Lag Reaper Book to draw persistent low-particle flame rings at the block's radius, with action-bar readouts showing the current radius.
FPS Lag HUD
The Lag Reaper Book lets you enable an optional FPS lag HUD displayed on your action bar, giving you a real-time sense of world performance.
Crafting And Obtaining
Lag Reaper Block
The Lag Reaper Book is given automatically on first join and does not need to be crafted.
Abilities And Mechanics
Lag Reaper Book
Right-click (use) the book at any time to open the configuration UI. From here you can:
- Choose which entities to purge (dropped items, hostile mobs, or both).
- Set the purge interval (1–5 minutes).
- Toggle and configure the 30-second warning, final countdown, and broadcast announcements.
- Edit the Mob Disappear List — a persistent list of specific mob types that are silently removed within a 96-block radius around each player on a 5-second scan cycle, independently of the purge timer.
- Open the built-in Addon Wiki for in-game help.
- Select which block types the Purgatory Flame will target and destroy.
Purgatory Flame
- Click it in your inventory to remove all Lag Reaper Blocks that match your configured block selection. A multi-line chat summary reports exactly how many blocks were removed.
- Hold it in your hand while walking to leave a harmless green fire-like trail behind you. The trail fades after roughly 2 seconds and can be toggled on or off.
Progression And Strategy
- Start simple: place the block near your base with default settings to clear item clutter and reduce entity counts automatically.
- Upgrade early: drop a Gold Block next to the Lag Reaper Block as soon as you can to expand coverage to 25 blocks — useful for farms and mob grinders.
- Chain upgrades as you progress through the tech tree: Gold → Diamond → Netherite Scrap → Nether Star gives you a massive 90-block sweep radius, ideal for large builds or heavily loaded servers.
- Use the Mob Disappear List for passive, always-on culling of specific nuisance mobs (like phantoms or strays) without waiting for the purge timer.
- Purgatory Flame cleanup: when you want to reorganize or relocate your setup, use the Purgatory Flame to remove all placed Lag Reaper Blocks in one click rather than hunting them down manually.
- Enable Show Radius while setting up to confirm coverage before committing to a placement.
