  1. Place it in your hotbar and hold it in either hand.
  2. Aim your crosshair at a living target.
  3. Use the item—right-click by default—to fire instantly.
  4. Try shooting targets up to 48 blocks away. The shot stops when it reaches a solid block.

You can also find the Ironfire Sidearm in the Combat tab of the Creative inventory. It does not use ammunition.

Overview

The Ironfire Sidearm is a compact, single-item ranged weapon. Each use fires an instant hitscan shot in the direction you are looking, dealing 8 damage to the first valid living target in its path.

The weapon:

  • Has a maximum range of 48 blocks
  • Fires instantly without a projectile
  • Uses no ammunition
  • Has a stack size of 1
  • Produces an arrow-shoot sound when fired
  • Loses 1 durability per shot
  • Has 256 maximum durability

What It Adds

Ironfire Sidearm

The sidearm is designed for quick, accurate attacks at a distance. It can damage living entities other than the shooter, including hostile mobs and other valid living targets.

Its item tooltip identifies it as a compact hitscan sidearm and displays its effective range.

How To Use

Hold the Ironfire Sidearm in your main hand or off-hand and use it while aiming.

  • Default control: Right-click or use the item
  • Targeting: The shot follows the direction of your camera and crosshair
  • Range: Up to 48 blocks
  • Impact: The first valid living target along the shot path takes 8 damage
  • Obstacles: Solid blocks stop the shot
  • Fluids: Fluids do not stop the shot
  • Cooldown: The sidearm can fire once every 8 game ticks, or about 0.4 seconds

Using the sidearm while it is cooling down does not fire another shot.

Crafting And Obtaining

In Survival, craft one Ironfire Sidearm using:

  • Iron ingots
  • Flint
  • Redstone
  • A stick

The recipe uses a shaped arrangement, so ingredient placement matters. The complete recipe is shown below:

In Creative, obtain it from the Combat item group. The item cannot be stacked with additional Ironfire Sidearms.

Abilities And Mechanics

Instant Hitscan Fire

The sidearm does not launch a visible projectile. When fired, the game checks the line from your camera to the point you are aiming at, so a hit registers immediately.

Block Collision

The shot checks for solid block collisions before resolving entity hits. Use open sightlines for reliable attacks; a target behind a solid block cannot be hit.

Durability

Every fired shot consumes one durability point, whether or not it hits a target. When the sidearm reaches zero durability, it can no longer be used until repaired through available Minecraft mechanics.

Progression And Strategy

  • Keep distance from hostile mobs to take advantage of the 48-block range.
  • Fire from elevated positions or across open terrain for clear sightlines.
  • Use cover between shots while the short cooldown is active.
  • Watch the durability bar during extended fights.
  • Carry a backup weapon for close combat or when the sidearm is nearly broken.
