Iron plus and cast iron

Quickstart

1. Open the Creative inventory and search for Iron Bastion Core.
2. Place the core in an open area. Placing it starts a five-wave Iron Bastion defense and displays the wave, core health, and score on-screen.
3. Defeat the zombies, husks, and skeletons before they reach the core. Stay nearby so you can receive the victory reward.
4. For building decoration, obtain Cast Iron Ingots, craft a Normal Iron Chain, and place it where you want a three-block-tall industrial chain section.
5. Try the Iron Bastion shield in your off-hand. Use the shield control to raise it and block incoming damage.

Overview

Iron plus and cast iron adds a cast-iron material set, decorative iron chains, a custom shield, and the Iron Bastion defense challenge.

Cast iron can be mined from surface and deep underground ore, smelted into ingots, compressed into blocks, and used to craft the Bastion Core and Normal Iron Chain.

How To Use

Cast Iron Ore

Mine Cast Iron Ore or Deepslate Cast Iron Ore with a pickaxe. Each ore block drops Raw Cast Iron.

Smelt either ore, or smelt Raw Cast Iron, in a furnace to obtain Cast Iron Ingots.

Normal Iron Chain

Craft a Normal Iron Chain from Cast Iron Ingots:

Place the chain item to create a vertical three-block-tall chain section. The section faces according to the direction you are facing when placing it, so turn before placing to control its orientation.

Use chains for hanging details, machinery rooms, bridges, towers, industrial interiors, and fortress decorations.

Iron Bastion Shield

Craft the Iron Bastion shield with an Iron Bastion Core and Iron Ingots:

The shield can be equipped in the off-hand. Hold the normal shield-use control to raise it and block damage. It has 336 durability and can be repaired with planks.

Abilities And Mechanics

Iron Bastion Defense

The Iron Bastion Core is more than a decorative block. Placing it starts a defense session:

• The core begins at 100% health.
• The defense contains five waves.
• Waves spawn groups of zombies, husks, and skeletons around the core.
• Later waves contain more raiders.
• A raider near the core damages it for 5% health about once per second.
• A new wave begins after all raiders from the current wave are defeated.
• The action bar shows the current wave, core health, and score while you are near the Bastion.

Keep enemies away from the core and defeat them before they gather around it. If the core is destroyed, or if the core block is removed, the defense fails and the session ends.

Only one Iron Bastion defense can be active at a time. The core is removed when the defense ends, whether the result is victory or failure.

Victory Rewards

Defeat all five waves to secure the Bastion. Players within 64 blocks of the core when the defense is completed receive:

• 8 Cast Iron Ingots
• One Bastion victory recorded on the Bastion victory scoreboard

The defense score increases as waves are cleared and receives a larger bonus for completing the final wave.

The Cast Iron Nugget is available as a cast-iron material item, but it has no listed crafting recipe.

Iron Bastion Core

Craft a Block of Cast Iron into an Iron Bastion Core using a stonecutter:

Place the resulting core to begin the defense challenge immediately.

Progression And Strategy

1. Find Cast Iron Ore or Deepslate Cast Iron Ore.
2. Smelt the ore into Cast Iron Ingots.
3. Make storage blocks when you need to transport or stockpile cast iron.
4. Use a Block of Cast Iron to create an Iron Bastion Core.
5. Prepare weapons, armor, food, and a shield before placing the core.
6. Build walls, lighting, or a defensible arena around the placement area.
7. Place the core only when you are ready to fight all five waves.
8. Focus on raiders that reach the core first; protecting the core is more important than chasing distant enemies.
9. Stay within the Bastion area through the final wave so you are present for the Cast Iron Ingot reward.
