Infernal Axolotl

Quickstart

1. Open your inventory and find the Infernal Axolotl Spawn Egg (dark brown with red spots), or run the command /summon com_infernal_axolotl_alucjkfj:myaxolotl.
2. Use the spawn egg on any surface to summon the creature.
3. Back away immediately — it will lock onto you within 20 blocks and charge at speeds faster than a sprinting player.
4. To leash it safely, have a Lead ready and interact with the Infernal Axolotl. To remove the lead, interact with it directly again.

Overview

The Infernal Axolotl is a tiny, hyper-aggressive demonic mob that never appears in the world on its own — every encounter is one you choose to start. Half the size of a normal axolotl, it sports charred skin, glowing red eyes, and small horns. Despite its unsettling cuteness, it is a genuine threat: it moves faster than a sprinting player on land, is fully amphibious, and will relentlessly pursue players, villagers, iron golems, and most passive animals alike.

Abilities And Mechanics

Aggression

The Infernal Axolotl targets anything within a 20-block radius without needing line of sight. Its target list includes players, villagers, iron golems, cows, sheep, and most other passive or neutral mobs. It will re-select targets and persist in pursuit for several seconds even if the current target escapes.

Each attack deals 5 damage (2.5 hearts) and is followed by a short cooldown before it can strike again.

Movement

On land, the Infernal Axolotl scurries at a speed that outpaces a sprinting player — don't expect to simply run away. It is equally at home underwater, swimming at the same high speed. Unlike normal axolotls, it can remain on land indefinitely without drying out.

Leashing

You can attach a Lead to the Infernal Axolotl by interacting with it. The lead will stretch far and will never snap no matter how hard the creature strains against it. To remove the lead, interact with the axolotl directly — you cannot cut it with shears.

Vulnerabilities

• Lightning is catastrophically effective — it deals 2000× normal lightning damage, making a Channeling trident in a thunderstorm a reliable one-shot solution.
• Lava damages it (4 damage per tick), so it is not immune to fire despite its infernal nature.
• It has 20 HP (10 hearts), matching a player's base health.

XP

Killing an Infernal Axolotl rewards 3–6 XP, but only if a player lands the killing blow.

Progression And Strategy

Engagement options:

• Lure it into lava — it takes rapid fire damage and will die quickly.
• Strike it with lightning — a Channeling trident during a thunderstorm is an almost instant kill.
• Leash and reposition it — use a Lead to drag it somewhere contained before releasing it on a target or simply to keep it under control.
• Stay airborne — the axolotl walks on land but cannot fly or climb, so elevated positions break its melee threat.

Looting pays off. A Looting III sword noticeably improves the quantity of all drops and slightly increases the chance of the rare Infernal Horn Fragment trophy.

Drops

The Infernal Horn Fragment is a renamed Phantom Membrane and serves as a prestige trophy proving you personally slew the creature.
