Hollow Observer

Quickstart

• In Creative, find the Hollow Observer spawn egg in the Spawn Eggs tab and use it on the ground. You can also summon it with /summon hollow-observer-dusz5mr3:hollow_observer_dusz5mr3.
• In Survival, it can spawn naturally in the Overworld.
• Try watching it from a distance, then look away and leave the area. Staring builds its attention; attacking it provokes it immediately.

Overview

The Hollow Observer is a towering, faceless, grounded mob that reacts to how much attention you give it. It may appear and disappear while its attention is low, then become more persistent as you keep watching. It does not offer a special interaction when clicked.

What It Adds

• A very large Observer with an intermittent presence, ash particles, and a distant breathing sound.
• A gaze-driven pursuit and attack encounter.
• A spawn egg for placing it in Creative.

How To Use

The Observer tracks each player separately. Looking directly at it while it is visible and within range raises its attention. Looking away lets attention fade gradually; being farther away or out of sight also stops your gaze from building attention.

At low attention, it appears only briefly at intervals. As attention grows, it stays visible more often, repositions, and approaches. At high attention it closes the distance. Once its attention is full, it pauses to hold your gaze before advancing; if it gets close enough and can see you, it attacks.

Crafting And Obtaining

There are no crafting recipes. Use the spawn egg from the Creative Spawn Eggs tab, summon it with the command above, or encounter it through natural Overworld spawning.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Gaze response: Watching raises attention over time; turning away allows it to decrease.
• Escalating pursuit: The Observer becomes more visible and moves closer as attention rises.
• Close-range strike: After its full-attention advance, it can attack when close enough and able to see its target.
• Sleep disturbance: Sleeping while its attention is high may wake you and increase its attention.
• Toughness: It has a large health pool, substantial armor, strong knockback resistance, and immunity to fire. Player attacks also provoke it.

Progression And Strategy

To explore its behavior, watch from a distance and turn away before attention gets high. If it begins approaching, break line of sight and keep your distance rather than attacking. Sleeping nearby is risky once it has taken an interest in you.
