Ivan Brothers, the Masters of Knowledge

Quickstart

1. Find Charles-Ivan or Henri-Viktor — both brothers spawn naturally in all biomes and dimensions. Villages will always attract one of them. Charles-Ivan is the taller of the two; Henri-Viktor is his smaller twin.
2. Walk within 5 blocks of either brother. They will stop and ask you a trivia question in chat.
3. Type your answer in chat — answers are uppercase words or numbers (e.g. IRON or 92).
4. Answer correctly to receive rewards ranging from emeralds to legendary items. Answer wrong and the brother transforms into a hostile sword-wielding hunter who will chase you until one of you dies.
5. Drop items near a peaceful brother to build friendship points and eventually earn the powerful GRATITUDE totem or Poop Armor.
6. To spawn a brother manually, craft the Charles-Ivan Spawn Egg (yellow wool + book + emerald + egg + blue dye in a shaped pattern) and use it on the ground.
7. Craft Charles-Ivan's Glasses (iron bars + glass + end rods + nether star) and right-click to equip them on your head for instant night vision and live ore-coordinate tracking.

Overview

This mod adds two dwarf-like scholar characters — Charles-Ivan and his smaller twin Henri-Viktor — who roam the world posing trivia challenges to any player who gets close. Engage with them to earn rare loot, build a friendship over time for extraordinary rewards, or face their wrath if you answer incorrectly. The mod also adds several powerful craftable items, a special block, and a comedic but dangerous suite of poop-themed equipment.

How To Use

The Quiz System

When you step within 5 blocks of either brother, he stops walking and sends a trivia question to your chat. Questions span six categories:

• Minecraft mechanics
• Dungeons & Dragons
• The Lord of the Rings / Tolkien lore
• German language & culture
• Nuclear science & physics
• Piano / music theory

There are over 50 questions at three difficulty tiers: Easy, Medium, and Hard. Simply type the answer into chat. Answers are case-insensitive in practice but displayed in uppercase in the book (e.g. GLUON, D20, QUENYA).

Correct answer: The brother celebrates, and you receive reward items dropped on the ground. Harder questions greatly improve the odds of receiving Netherite Blocks, Dragon Eggs, the Charles-Ivan Sword, or the Charles-Ivan Wand.

Wrong answer: The brother transforms with a scream and a special sound effect, becomes fully hostile, and pursues you at high speed wielding a sword. He remains hostile until either you or he is killed.

A quiz cooldown prevents the brothers from quizzing you continuously.

Friendship System

While a brother is in his peaceful state, drop any item on the ground near him. He will pick it up and award you +1 permanent friendship point (tracked per player per world).

When your friendship points reach the threshold shown in THE BOOK:

• 33% chance: You receive a full Poop Armor set (Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, Boots).
• 67% chance: You receive a GRATITUDE totem.

After the reward is given your friendship points reset to zero, so the cycle can be repeated.

Charles-Ivan's Glasses

Craft the glasses (see below), then right-click while holding them to automatically equip them in your helmet slot (your current helmet, if any, swaps into your hand). While worn:

• You gain continuous Night Vision.
• Nearby ores (coal, iron, copper, gold, redstone, lapis, emerald, diamond, ancient debris, obsidian, and crying obsidian) are highlighted with End Rod and Electric Spark particles within a 14-block radius.
• Every 2 seconds your action bar shows the name and exact X Y Z coordinates of the nearest ore block.

The IVAN BUTTON

Place the IVAN BUTTON block on top of any solid block, then right-click it. Your action bar will show a countdown message. After 3 seconds, every non-ore block in a massive 150×150 area is cleared away, instantly revealing all ore veins. Use with caution — this is permanent and irreversible.

Poop Armor and POOP item are obtained exclusively as rewards from the brothers — through quiz victories and the friendship system — and cannot be crafted.

IVAN BUTTON is found in the CHARLES-IVAN creative tab and can also be placed in the world from there; survival crafting details are in the creative inventory.

Abilities and Mechanics

Charles-Ivan Sword

Deals your normal melee damage plus 250 bonus damage on every hit. Each strike spawns Electric Spark, Sonic Boom, and Enchant particles and plays a thunderclap. The sword loses one durability per hit.

Charles-Ivan Wand

Right-click fires a Small Fireball in your look direction. Simultaneously, the nearest living entity within 32 blocks in your line of sight receives 35 magic damage with Flame and Soul Fire Flame particles. The wand has a 5-second cooldown per use.

GRATITUDE Totem

Functions as a super-charged Totem of Undying. Hold it in your main hand or off-hand. On fatal damage: you survive at 1 HP, all current status effects are cleared, and you gain Regeneration II (45 s), Absorption II (5 s), and Fire Resistance (40 s). The totem is consumed on use.

POOP Projectile

Thrown like a snowball. On contact with a living entity it deals 15 damage, applies Poison (6 s) and Nausea (8 s), and explodes into brown terracotta block particles.

Poop Armor Set

An extraordinarily rare reward with stats far exceeding Netherite. The full set carries massive durability, high protection values, and knockback resistance. Wearing the full set causes the armour to retaliate against attackers by launching poop projectiles, poison clouds, and Slowness — all pieces glow with an enchant glint.

Progression and Strategy

• Early game: Encounter a brother naturally or craft the Charles-Ivan Spawn Egg to summon one safely. Start with Easy questions — categories like Minecraft basics, D&D dice notation, and simple chemistry — before attempting harder ones.
• Mid game: Craft Charles-Ivan's Glasses to make mining dramatically more efficient. The nether star requirement makes this a post-Wither milestone.
• Hard questions pay off: Hard-tier trivia questions give a significantly higher chance of receiving Netherite Blocks, Dragon Eggs, and the legendary Sword or Wand. Study up before engaging.
• Friendship farming: Even if you are not confident in trivia, gift items to the brothers consistently. Over time you will accumulate enough points to earn the GRATITUDE totem — essentially a permanent second life — or the incredibly powerful Poop Armor.
• IVAN BUTTON: Save this for when you need to locate Ancient Debris or diamond veins quickly. The irreversible terrain clearance makes it most valuable in remote areas or dedicated mining worlds.
• Never answer wrong unprepared. A hostile brother is fast and deadly. Make sure you are well-armoured or have an escape route before attempting any question you are unsure of.
