Overview
The Guardian Revival Shield is an off-hand shield that gives you a second chance at life. Rather than dying outright, you enter a vulnerable "downed" state where you can crawl and attempt to revive yourself. A spectral Guardian Replica companion spawns to defend you during the process. The shield supports up to five successful self-revives before it breaks permanently.
What It Adds
- Guardian Revival Shield — a craftable off-hand shield item with a glint enchantment effect and a custom appearance.
- Guardian Replica — a temporary AI companion that spawns to protect you while you are downed or recovering. It resembles a humanoid figure and actively hunts nearby hostile mobs.
How To Use
Equipping
Place the shield in your off-hand slot. It functions as a normal shield for blocking while equipped (blocking does not consume revive charges).
Entering the Downed State
When you take damage that would reduce your health to half a heart (0.5 ❤) or lower, the shield intercepts the killing blow and places you into the downed state at exactly 0.5 ❤ instead of letting you die.
While Downed
- You are forced into a crawl/crouch and move very slowly.
- You cannot attack or mine effectively.
- Most mobs ignore you — they will only notice you if they come within 1 block.
- A Guardian Replica spawns immediately and begins seeking out nearby hostile mobs.
- The Guardian may build a temporary cobblestone wall around you if there is space, providing physical cover.
- A prompt appears on screen reminding you to right-click to begin self-revive.
Self-Reviving
Hold right-click while downed to start a 4-second revival channel. During the channel:
- You become invisible and completely undetectable by mobs.
- The Guardian Replica actively attacks any hostiles near you.
If the channel completes successfully:
- You revive with 3 hearts of health.
- You receive Regeneration II for 8 seconds.
- You remain invisible and untargetable by mobs for an additional 5 seconds.
- The Guardian Replica continues defending you for 20 seconds before despawning.
- The cobblestone wall (if built) is removed automatically.
- One revive charge is consumed from the shield.

Tooltip Information
The shield always shows your remaining revive charges directly in the item tooltip:
Self-revive uses remaining: X/5
Crafting And Obtaining
The recipe is automatically unlocked when you join a world. Craft the shield at a crafting table:
The recipe requires end-game materials — Totems of Undying and Ghast Tears combined with a standard Shield — reflecting the powerful survival ability it grants.
Progression And Strategy
- Craft early if possible, but expect to farm End and Nether resources first. The four Totems of Undying required make this a mid-to-late-game item.
- Don't rely on the shield as a panic button — it only has 5 uses total. Triggering the downed state in a safe area (few mobs nearby) gives you the best chance of completing the revive channel.
- The Guardian Replica is your lifeline while channeling. It will prioritize the closest threats to you, so try to revive in an area where it can intercept mobs before they wander within 1 block.
- Use the 5-second post-revive stealth window to reposition, eat food, or escape. You are completely invisible to mobs during this time.
- Normal shield blocking is free — use the shield to block attacks as you normally would without worrying about wasting charges. Only completed self-revives consume a charge.
- Once all 5 charges are used, the shield breaks permanently, so consider saving the last charge for a truly dangerous situation.
