Description
Jump/fall 3 blocks to mine. Tired of mining? Need a little upgrade? Ground Breaker Boots are wearable boots that, when you fall 3 or more blocks, automatically smash out a 4x4x4 area (up to 4 layers) beneath you, preserving all item drops while playing a loud anvil impact sound with small coal-like smoke on landing; they appear black with white ash smears. To use, simply wear them and jump or fall 3+ blocks—the smash triggers automatically and can occur up to two times during a single continuous fall sequence, with the two-smash limit correctly persisting through the brief grounded moment created when blocks are destroyed; the smash counter only resets when you genuinely land, start a new jump/fall, or unequip the boots. Every 8 successful smash activations in a row triggers an overuse penalty: you’ll receive the message "You are breaking your feet!", take 6 damage (3 hearts), and be afflicted with Slowness for 5 minutes, after which the eight-use counter resets.

Ground Breaker Boots
Quickstart
- Craft the Ground Breaker Boots at a crafting table (see recipe below).
- Open your inventory and equip them in the feet/boots armor slot.
- Jump or climb somewhere at least 3 blocks above the ground and fall.
- On landing, the boots automatically detonate — blasting a 4×4×4 pit beneath you, scattering all block drops, and playing a thunderous anvil impact with a smoky explosion effect.

Overview
Ground Breaker Boots are a rare, enchant-able pair of boots that turn every hard landing into a terrain-demolishing stomp. Equipped players passively gain the smash ability — no button presses needed. The boots handle mining, tunneling, and dramatic entrances all at once, but overusing them too quickly carries a painful penalty.
What It Adds
| Item | Slot | Armor | Durability | Rarity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ground Breaker Boots | Feet | 4 (same as diamond boots) | 592 | Rare (purple name) |
- Black boots with white ash smears and an enchantment glint.
- Found in the Equipment → Boots tab of the creative inventory.
- Enchantable in the armor/feet slot (enchantability 9).
- Repairable with Netherite Ingots at an anvil.
How To Use
Simply wear the boots and fall at least 3 blocks. The smash triggers automatically the moment you land — no extra input required.
What happens on impact:
- A 4×4 area (centered on your landing spot) is instantly demolished 4 layers deep, dropping all blocks as items.
- A loud anvil-strike sound booms out across the area.
- Smoke-like explosion particles burst across the landing zone.
Double smash: Within a single continuous fall, the boots can trigger up to twice. If the first smash destroys blocks and you drop further into the new pit, the second smash fires when you land again — all within the same fall sequence. The two-smash limit resets only when you genuinely land and stand still, start a brand-new jump, or remove the boots.
Abilities And Mechanics
Smash Trigger Conditions
- You must fall a minimum of 3 blocks from your highest point during a jump or fall.
- The smash fires automatically on landing — no crouch, sprint, or right-click needed.
- Maximum of 2 smashes per fall sequence.
Overuse Penalty
Every 8 successful smash activations in a row triggers an overuse penalty:
| Effect | Value |
|---|---|
| Message | "You are breaking your feet!" |
| Damage | 6 HP (3 hearts) |
| Slowness | 5 minutes (Slowness II) |
After the penalty fires, the counter resets to zero and you can smash freely again.
Durability & Repairs
- The boots absorb fall damage (they include built-in fall protection).
- Each smash consumes durability. Repair at an anvil using Netherite Ingots.
- Unequipping the boots mid-fall cancels the smash ability and resets all tracking.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft at a crafting table using the recipe above. The unlock hint appears in your recipe book once you have picked up an Anvil, Netherite Ingot, Obsidian, or Block of Coal.
Repair material: Netherite Ingot (at an anvil).
Progression And Strategy
- Early mining: Drop into a ravine or dig a quick shaft — landing smashes out a massive chunk instantly, saving time on tunneling.
- Cave clearing: Bounce into a cave entrance to blast out a wide opening before exploring.
- Pacing your smashes: Keep an eye on your activation count. After 7 safe smashes, consider waiting a moment on the ground before your next fall to avoid triggering the 8-smash penalty at a bad time.
- Enchanting: With enchantability 9, the boots accept standard armor enchantments. Feather Falling reduces fall damage taken before the boots' absorption kicks in, giving extra safety on extreme drops.
- Inventory space: The smash preserves all block drops in the pit — bring extra inventory space when demolishing valuable ore-dense areas.
