Duplication Chest

Quickstart

1. Craft a Duplication Chest using the recipe below.
2. Place it in the world like a normal chest.
3. Right-click it to open its interface.
4. Put a single item into the lone slot near the top of the menu.
5. Close the interface (press E or Esc).
6. Reopen the chest — your item has multiplied up to its maximum stack size!

Overview

The Duplication Chest is a magical block made from enchanted, echo-shard-infused oak. It looks and behaves like a storage container, but instead of just holding items, it multiplies whatever single item you place inside it, filling that item up to its full stack size every time the chest is closed.

What It Adds

• Duplication Chest (Block & Item): A placeable chest with a shimmering, enchanted glow. It can be mined with a pickaxe and is watched over by Piglins like other valuable chests.
• A special interface with a single input slot for the item you want to multiply, plus your normal inventory and hotbar below it.

How To Use

• Placing: Place the Duplication Chest like any block; it faces away from you based on where you're standing when placed.
• Opening: Right-click the chest to open its interface. Opening and closing plays the familiar chest sound effects.
• Duplicating an item:
  1. Open the chest.
  2. Place exactly one item type into the single top slot.
  3. Close the interface.
  4. The item's stack size instantly grows to that item's maximum stack size (for example, 64 for most items, or a smaller cap for items with limits like ender pearls or eggs).
• Repeating: You can keep the chest open, swap in the item to duplicate, close, and reopen to grow the stack — each closing "tops it off" to max stack size if it isn't already full.
• Breaking the chest: If destroyed, any item currently inside will drop on the ground instead of vanishing.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Single-slot duplication: The chest only holds one item stack at a time — the top-center slot in its interface.
• Duplicate-on-close: The multiplying effect triggers specifically when the chest's interface is closed, instantly filling the held item to its maximum stack size.
• No gap over-fill: Once an item is already at max stack size, closing the chest has no further effect until you remove and replace items.
• Tooltip info: Hovering over the Duplication Chest item shows a description of its function, and advanced tooltips (enabled with F3+H) reveal extra flavor details about its "magical capacity" and duplication method.
• Sturdy but mineable: The chest requires a pickaxe to break and has moderate mining resistance, similar to other magical utility blocks.

Progression And Strategy

• Use the Duplication Chest to quickly top off partial stacks of valuable or hard-to-farm items instead of gathering more the traditional way.
• Because it only processes one item at a time, it's best suited for occasionally refilling stacks rather than mass-producing resources — plan trips back to the chest as needed.
• Combine the Duplication Chest with your regular storage setup: keep it nearby stockpiles of chests so you can top off stacks before packing them away.
