Mod Wiki
Diamondbound Sidekick
Quickstart
- In Creative mode, obtain a Sidekick Calling Card or the Diamondbound Sidekick Spawn Egg.
- To craft a calling card at a crafting table, use:

- Use the calling card to summon your sidekick beside you. Using the card again calls your owned sidekick to your location, even across long distances or dimensions.
- Interact with the sidekick to open the sidekick menu.
- Hold an item while interacting to give it to him. Hold armor to equip it, cooked steak to heal him, or another item to place it in his cargo pack.
- Try an adventure from the menu. Each adventure costs 2 diamonds and takes about 45 seconds.
You can also use the spawn egg from Creative mode, or summon the entity with:
/summon com_diamondbound_sidekick_hppirk2r:diamondbound_sidekick
Overview
The Diamondbound Sidekick is a small Steve-like companion that follows its owner, fights hostile mobs, carries items, retrieves supplies, and wears armor.
Your sidekick has:
- 30 health
- 6 melee attack damage
- A private 27-slot cargo inventory
- Automatic long-distance and cross-dimension teleporting
- Hostile-mob detection and melee combat
- Support for vanilla armor and custom Sidekick armor
- Healing from cooked steak
- Three paid supply-gathering adventures
A sidekick spawned from a spawn egg becomes associated with the first player who interacts with it. A sidekick already owned by another player cannot be used by you.
What It Adds

The custom armor can be enchanted and repaired with sticks. Each custom armor piece has 200 durability.
How To Use
Calling Your Sidekick
Use a Sidekick Calling Card:
- If you do not have an owned sidekick nearby, one appears beside you.
- If you already have one, it is teleported to your location.
- The card can call the sidekick from another dimension or from far away.
The sidekick normally follows you. It is pulled toward you when it falls behind and teleports to you when it is at least 24 blocks away horizontally or is in another dimension.
Opening the Sidekick Menu
Interact with your sidekick while holding an item that is not a valid armor piece, cooked steak, or diamond. The menu displays:
- Current cargo
- Whether an adventure is active
- Collect all cargo
- The three adventure choices
- Call sidekick home
You can also interact with an empty hand to open the menu.
Giving Items and Collecting Cargo
Hold an item and interact with the sidekick to put it into his cargo pack. Diamonds are not placed in the pack this way, so keep them in your own inventory for adventure payments.
Open the menu and select Collect all cargo to transfer cargo into your inventory. If your inventory does not have enough room, the remaining items stay in the sidekick's pack.
Equipping Armor
Hold an armor piece and interact with the sidekick. He accepts:
- Leather, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite helmets
- Leather, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite chestplates
- Leather, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite leggings
- Leather, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite boots
- The four custom Sidekick armor pieces
If he is already wearing armor in that slot, the old piece is exchanged with the one you are holding.
Healing
Hold cooked steak and interact with the sidekick. One steak is consumed and restores 8 health, up to his 30-health maximum.
If he is already at full health, the steak is not consumed.
Crafting And Obtaining
The Sidekick Calling Card is crafted at a crafting table using paper and a diamond:
The custom armor pieces and spawn egg are available through the Creative inventory. Vanilla armor can also be equipped on the sidekick.
Abilities And Mechanics
Combat
The sidekick attacks nearby hostile mobs and other entities in the monster or hostile families within 16 blocks. He also fights targets that hurt him.
Armor improves his protection, allowing him to act as a bodyguard while exploring. He is fire-immune and can navigate through water, doors, and openable doors.
Adventures
From the sidekick menu, choose one of three adventures. Each costs 2 diamonds and lasts about 45 seconds. Your sidekick leaves temporarily and returns with a fixed supply of useful items.
| Adventure | Returned supplies |
|---|---|
| Ores | 8 raw iron, 16 coal, and 1 diamond |
| Blocks | 32 cobblestone, 16 oak logs, and 24 sand |
| Items | 8 bread, 16 torches, and 16 arrows |
When the adventure finishes, the sidekick returns to you and attempts to deliver the cargo automatically. Items that do not fit in your inventory remain in his pack for collection. If his cargo pack cannot hold incoming rewards, excess items appear at his location.
Only one adventure can be active on a sidekick at a time. Starting another adventure while one is in progress is not allowed.
Selecting Call sidekick home in the menu immediately brings him back and ends the current adventure.
Naming
The sidekick can be renamed with a name tag.
Progression And Strategy
- Craft a calling card as soon as you have a diamond and paper so you can recover your companion easily.
- Give the sidekick armor before taking him into dangerous areas.
- Keep cooked steak in your hotbar for quick healing.
- Use the cargo pack for building materials and supplies, then collect it before beginning another expedition.
- Choose Ores when you need coal, iron, or an extra diamond.
- Choose Blocks for basic construction materials.
- Choose Items for food, torches, and arrows.
- Leave free space in your own inventory before an adventure finishes so the returned supplies can be delivered automatically.
- If the sidekick wanders away, use the calling card rather than searching; he can be called back from any distance.
