Corrupted Nether Wilds
Quickstart
- Load into a new world — no crafting or setup is required.
- Explore the Overworld until you find a region where the ground turns to netherrack, crimson nylium, warped nylium, soul sand, or blackstone. These are the Corrupted Nether biomes and can appear anywhere in the Overworld as large contiguous zones.
- Beware immediately: beds explode on use inside these biomes, just like in the real Nether. Bring a Respawn Anchor and Glowstone to set a safe spawn point instead.
- Look for Nether Fortresses and Bastion Remnants — both generate across all five corrupted biomes and contain valuable loot.
- Mine deep (Y 0–18) for Ancient Debris, and dig anywhere for all vanilla ores.
Overview
Corrupted Nether Wilds invades the Overworld with five distinct Nether-themed biomes. Each biome is a large climate region — not a small checkerboard patch — so you'll encounter sprawling zones that feel like genuine Nether landscapes dropped into your world. They bring Nether mobs, Nether structures, Nether block palettes, and Nether survival rules, making them high-risk, high-reward areas for adventurous players.
What It Adds
The Five Corrupted Biomes
| Biome | Surface Blocks | Character |
|---|
| Corrupted Nether Wastes | Netherrack | Barren, hostile wasteland |
| Corrupted Soul Sand Valley | Soul Sand / Soul Soil | Eerie, soul-fire blue fog |
| Corrupted Basalt Deltas | Basalt / Blackstone | Jagged volcanic terrain |
| Corrupted Crimson Forest | Crimson Nylium / Netherrack | Dense red fungal growth |
| Corrupted Warped Forest | Warped Nylium / Netherrack | Teal fungal woodland |
Each biome features:
- Its own fog colour, ambience, and music
- Nether vegetation — crimson and warped roots, fungi, and nylium where applicable
- Lava converted to Obsidian on the surface and throughout the column
- Cave carvers cutting through the corrupted rock
Structures
Both Nether Fortresses and Bastion Remnants generate in all five biomes.
Mobs
Expect dangerous Nether mobs throughout all corrupted zones: Piglins, Hoglins, Ghasts, Blazes, Wither Skeletons, and more.
How To Use
Survival Rules in Corrupted Biomes
- Beds explode when used — do not sleep here.
- Respawn Anchors work as your spawn point. Charge one with Glowstone (right-click with Glowstone in hand to add a charge), then right-click without Glowstone to set your spawn.
- All other vanilla survival mechanics apply normally — no special tools or progression is needed to enter.
Setting a Spawn Point
- Place a Respawn Anchor.
- Right-click it while holding Glowstone to add charges (up to 4).
- Right-click the charged anchor without Glowstone to bind your spawn to that location.
Abilities And Mechanics
Lava-to-Obsidian Conversion
Surface lava and lava pools throughout the column of any corrupted biome are replaced with Obsidian during world generation. This removes the usual lava hazards at the surface but creates obsidian deposits you can mine for resources.
Block Palette Details
- Corrupted Nether Wastes: Netherrack cap over netherrack.
- Corrupted Crimson Forest: Crimson Nylium surface (occasional netherrack patches) over netherrack.
- Corrupted Warped Forest: Warped Nylium surface (occasional netherrack patches) over netherrack.
- Corrupted Soul Sand Valley: Soul Sand surface (occasional Soul Soil patches) over netherrack.
- Corrupted Basalt Deltas: Blackstone and Basalt mix over netherrack.
Ore Generation
All vanilla Overworld ores generate inside corrupted biomes at their normal distributions. Ancient Debris also generates, but is restricted to Y levels 0–18 only.
Progression And Strategy
- Early game: These biomes are dangerous from the moment you arrive. Come armoured and prepared for Ghasts, Blazes, and Wither Skeletons before exploring.
- Mid game: Raid Bastion Remnants for Piglin Brute loot and Nether Fortress chests for Blaze Rods, Wither Skeleton Skulls, and rare items.
- Late game / mining: Dig down to Y 0–18 within any corrupted biome to hunt Ancient Debris for Netherite — this is the most accessible Ancient Debris source in the Overworld.
- Base building: Set up a Respawn Anchor near a Nether Fortress or Bastion before committing to deep exploration. Keep it charged.
- Biome navigation: Because each biome is a large contiguous region, you can travel along biome borders to scout for structures without fully committing to the most hostile zones.
