- Find a large, open flat area — the build claims a 101×101 block footprint plus extra clearance on all sides.
- Place the block on the ground. The area around it will immediately be flattened to a grass plane and a 10-second countdown begins.
- Stand back and watch El Castillo rise. The block removes itself when construction is complete.
Overview
Chichen Itza Builder adds a single craftable block — Chichen Itza 2 — that functions as a one-time automated construction tool. Place it anywhere with enough open space and it builds a large, faithful replica of the Mesoamerican pyramid El Castillo entirely on its own, then disappears. The result is a permanent, explorable structure in your world.
What It Adds
| Item | Description |
|---|
| Chichen Itza 2 | Single-use builder block. Place to trigger pyramid construction. Found in the Construction category of the inventory. |
The completed pyramid includes:
- A nine-tier stepped pyramid on a 101×101 block base, standing 38 blocks tall
- A light sandstone palette (sandstone, chiseled sandstone, smooth sandstone)
- A hollow-but-thick exterior shell — the pyramid looks solid from outside without filling every block inside
- Four cardinal staircases, each 9 blocks wide, with side rails and extended ground-level approaches, oriented consistently relative to where you placed the block
- A summit temple with framed entrances, corner pilasters, a one-block overhanging cornice/awning, and a stepped roofline — fully enterable
How To Use
Placement
Place Chichen Itza 2 on the ground at the spot you want to become the pyramid's center. The block immediately:
- Clears a wide area down to a flat grass plane
- Begins a 10-second countdown
- Constructs the pyramid tier by tier — base, levels, staircases, then the summit temple
- Removes itself when done
Important Notes
- Single-use: The block drops nothing when broken and cannot be recovered after placement. Plan your location carefully.
- Indestructible during build: The builder block cannot be mined or blown up while active.
- Space required: Ensure roughly 153×153 blocks of clear horizontal space and at least 64 blocks of vertical clearance above the ground plane.
- The four staircases always orient in the north, south, east, and west cardinal directions regardless of which way you are facing.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft Chichen Itza 2 at a crafting table. The recipe unlocks automatically once you have sandstone, chiseled sandstone, smooth sandstone, and a Nether Star in your inventory.
The Nether Star at the center reflects the scale and permanence of what this block builds — obtaining one requires defeating the Wither.
Abilities And Mechanics
Area Clearing
On placement the mod fills the surrounding area with grass at the placement level, removes all blocks above it (up to 64 blocks high), and places a shallow dirt layer beneath — giving the pyramid a clean, level platform to build on.
Phased Construction
The pyramid is built in sequential phases: terrain clearing → base → each of the nine tiers → the four staircases → the summit temple. You can watch the structure grow in real time.
Pyramid Geometry
- Base: 101×101 blocks
- Tiers: 9 levels; each tier steps inward by 5 blocks on each side (except the summit platform, which is widened to give the temple and staircase tops room to breathe)
- Height: 38 blocks for the pyramid body, plus the summit temple on top
- Shell thickness: 3 blocks — the walls look solid and are walkable/climbable without wasting blocks on a filled interior
Staircases
Each of the four cardinal staircases is 9 blocks wide, fully exposed from ground to summit, and flanked by side rails. Stair approaches extend out from the base at ground level so the climb begins naturally. Steps meet the widened top platform with at least a one-block walkable border.
Summit Temple
The top of the pyramid features a compact temple you can walk inside. It has:
- Framed entrances on each accessible face
- Corner pilasters
- A one-block overhanging cornice/awning around the exterior
- A stepped roofline
Progression And Strategy
- Prepare the Wither fight first. The Nether Star is the hardest ingredient to obtain, so defeating the Wither is your main progression gate.
- Choose your site before crafting. Once placed, the block cannot be retrieved. Scout a biome with naturally flat terrain (plains, desert) to minimize how much the clearing phase alters your world.
- Build a viewing platform nearby. The pyramid takes a little time to fully assemble — watching from elevation gives you a great view of the construction sequence.
- Use the pyramid as a landmark or base. The hollow interior and enterable temple make it useful as a large navigational beacon, decorative centerpiece, or the start of a desert-themed build area.
