Blue Veil
Quickstart
- Creative mode: Search the Creative inventory for the Creaker Spawn Egg and use it to summon a Creaker.
- With commands: Summon one with:
/summon com_blue_veil_slbjrgjh:creaker - Stand within 8 blocks of the Creaker to experience its aura. During Overworld nighttime, it applies Darkness, Nausea, and Slowness.
- Move away quickly if the effects become dangerous. Walls and small enclosures are not reliable protection because Creakers can climb, pass through walls, and teleport.
- In survival, look for one after a supported animal dies in the Overworld at night.
Overview
Blue Veil adds the Creaker, an aggressive, Enderman-like creature with pale blue glowing eyes. Creakers are powerful but temporary: each one disappears after approximately 35 seconds.
A Creaker has 400 health, pursues players from up to 100 blocks away, and uses teleportation to close the distance. Its melee attack does not deal direct damage, but fighting one at close range exposes you to its dangerous aura.
What It Adds
- Creaker hostile mob
- Creaker Spawn Egg for Creative mode
- Nighttime animal-death encounters in the Overworld
- Darkness, Nausea, and Slowness aura
- Random and target-directed teleportation
- Ender Pearls, Lapis Lazuli, and rare Echo Shards as drops
How To Use
Finding a Creaker Naturally
Creakers naturally appear in the Overworld at night when a supported animal dies. The Creaker spawns at the animal’s death location, making livestock pens, forests, and other areas with animals risky after dark.
Supported animals include common creatures such as cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, horses, wolves, cats, rabbits, goats, llamas, foxes, bees, turtles, and several aquatic animals.
Natural Creaker appearances are limited by a world-wide cooldown of approximately 20 minutes, and they do not naturally spawn in groups.
Summoning a Creaker
In Creative mode, use the Creaker Spawn Egg. You can also use:
/summon com_blue_veil_slbjrgjh:creaker
Summoned Creakers have the same temporary lifespan and abilities as naturally spawned Creakers.
Looking at a Creaker
A Creaker can notice a player who looks at it from up to 100 blocks away. Wearing a carved pumpkin prevents this look-based targeting, but the Creaker may still detect and pursue players normally.
Crafting And Obtaining
Creakers cannot be crafted. Obtain them by:
- Finding one after a supported animal dies in the Overworld at night
- Using the Creaker Spawn Egg in Creative mode
- Summoning one with
/summon com_blue_veil_slbjrgjh:creaker
Abilities And Mechanics
Night Aura
A Creaker affects players within 8 blocks:
- Darkness
- Nausea
- Slowness
The effects are refreshed repeatedly while you remain nearby and can linger briefly after you leave. Black particles appear around the Creaker while its aura is active.
In the Overworld, the aura activates during nighttime. In the Nether and End, Creakers can use the aura at any time.
Teleportation
Creakers teleport randomly and can teleport toward their target. A wall, doorway, pit, or small enclosure will not reliably contain one.
Keep open space available for escape and avoid assuming that distance will remain safe for long.
Targeting
Creakers pursue players from up to 100 blocks away. They can continue tracking a player even when the player is not directly visible.
Movement
Creakers can:
- Climb
- Move through walls
- Teleport around obstacles
- Avoid water while navigating
They take damage from hazardous environments, including lava and contact with water, but their high health makes them difficult to defeat quickly.
Lifespan
Every Creaker disappears after approximately 35 seconds, including Creakers summoned by players.
Drops
Defeating a Creaker can provide:
- 1–2 Ender Pearls
- 2–6 Lapis Lazuli
- A 5% chance of an Echo Shard
Looting can increase the Ender Pearl and Lapis Lazuli drops. A player who delivers the final hit receives 20 experience.
Progression And Strategy
- Fight in open terrain rather than inside a cramped base or pen.
- Keep more than 8 blocks of distance whenever possible to avoid the aura.
- Do not rely on walls, doors, or ceilings to block pursuit.
- Use the Creaker’s short lifespan to your advantage if you do not need its drops.
- Avoid killing livestock at night unless you are prepared for a Creaker to appear.
- Bring strong armor, food, and a plan for dealing with Darkness and Slowness.
- In the Nether and End, remain cautious at all times because the aura is not limited by Overworld nighttime.
