Bladebound Piston

Quickstart

1. Craft or obtain a Bladebound Piston:

You can also use /give @s com_bladebound_piston_xa4nasw5:my_block 1. 2. Place the block with its striking face aimed toward the area you want to defend. 3. Hold a sword, axe, pickaxe, shovel, hoe, trident, mace, bow, or crossbow and interact with the Bladebound Piston. One copy of the weapon is mounted on it. 4. Place an enemy in front of the block and power it with redstone. 5. Powering the block causes one close-range strike. Turn the power off and on again to trigger another strike.

Overview

Bladebound Piston is a placeable redstone-powered weapon block. Mount a weapon on it, then use redstone to strike entities standing in front of its face.

The mounted weapon remains attached until you remove it or break the block.

How To Use

Mounting a Weapon

Hold a supported weapon in your selected hotbar slot and interact with an unarmed Bladebound Piston. The block takes one weapon from the stack and displays it as mounted.

Enchantments on the weapon are retained and affect its damage.

Removing a Weapon

Interact with a Bladebound Piston that already has a weapon mounted. The weapon is returned to your currently selected hotbar slot.

Select an empty slot before removing a weapon, or the returned weapon will replace the item in that slot.

Activating the Strike

Power the Bladebound Piston with redstone. When it changes from unpowered to powered, it strikes the area in front of its face.

A continuously powered block strikes only once. To activate it again, remove the redstone power and then power it again.

Breaking the Block

Breaking the Bladebound Piston drops the block and returns any mounted weapon at its location.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Bladebound Piston at a crafting table using oak planks, cobblestone, an iron ingot, slime balls, and redstone.

The block can also be obtained with:

Abilities And Mechanics

The strike affects entities with health near the impact point in front of the block. It can damage multiple entities standing close together, and it does not fire arrows or projectiles when a bow or crossbow is mounted.

Base damage depends on the mounted weapon:

A weapon with Sharpness deals an additional 0.5 damage per enchantment level.

Progression And Strategy

• Start with a sword or axe to build a simple redstone defense.
• Use stronger axes, swords, tridents, or maces when defending valuable areas.
• Place the block where enemies must pass close to its striking face.
• Use pressure plates, tripwire, levers, or other redstone devices to control when it activates.
• For repeated attacks, use a redstone clock that repeatedly switches between powered and unpowered states.
• Mount an enchanted weapon to improve the damage of every triggered strike.
