    Description:

This mod adds a persistent disease simulation where many non-boss mobs roughly 1-in-12 spawn infected with a named strain that incubates for about two minutes and then pulses every 10 seconds with escalating, particle-free effects (from slowness/poison/hunger up to weakness/blindness/wither); diseases spread by being within roughly 3 blocks without full protection, by touching/hitting/being hit, or via contaminated dropped items, and you can craft a full yellow biohazard suit (hood, chestplate, leggings and boots) that completely blocks infection and pulses though individual pieces can break off if you take damage. Use the Disease Inspector (sneak-use or normal entity-interact) to open a reliable GUI that shows strain name, incubation countdown, criticality, pulse details, effects, transmission methods, cure weakness and cure rules, cure status, infection/chance stats (including the ~1-in-50 incubation-only uncurable strains) and the chance a strain will alter behavior; you can cure an infected entity or yourself by giving the listed weakness item (it is consumed on cure). Investigate, contain and respond to outbreaks across your world by combining the inspector, containment tactics and protective gear to track strains, treat or quarantine infected mobs, and manage behavior-altering infections.

    Mod Wiki

    Biohazard Outbreak

    Quickstart

    1. Craft a Disease Inspector at a crafting table — you'll need it to investigate anything.
    2. Craft the full yellow biohazard suit (Hood, Suit, Pants, Boots) and equip all four pieces before exploring, or you risk catching a disease yourself.
    3. Hold the Disease Inspector and right-click (interact) on any nearby mob to scan it. Sneak + use scans yourself.
    4. If the GUI shows an infected mob, note the listed cure item, then hand that item to the mob (or yourself) to consume it and cure the infection.

    Overview

Biohazard Outbreak turns your Minecraft world into an active epidemic zone. Many non-boss mobs spawn already carrying a uniquely named disease strain. Each strain incubates silently for two minutes, then begins pulsing debuffs onto its host every ten seconds. Diseases spread to you and other mobs through proximity, physical contact, combat, and even dropped items lying on the ground. Your tools for survival are a purpose-built biohazard suit that blocks all infection, and a Disease Inspector that gives you a full diagnostic readout on any entity in the world.

Yellow Biohazard HoodHelmet slot; part of the full protective suit
Yellow Biohazard SuitChest slot; part of the full protective suit
Yellow Biohazard PantsLegs slot; part of the full protective suit
Yellow Biohazard BootsFeet slot; part of the full protective suit

    How To Use

    The Disease Inspector

Hold the Disease Inspector in your hand. To scan a mob, simply interact (right-click / tap) it. To scan yourself, sneak while using the item. A GUI panel opens and displays:

    • Strain name and unique ID
    • Incubation countdown (how long until the disease becomes active)
    • Criticality level (determines debuff amplifier strength)
    • Active effects and pulse timing
    • Transmission methods this strain uses
    • Cure item required and whether the strain is curable
    • Behavior-alteration chance — about 35 % of strains can alter movement
    • Infection and spread statistics

About 1-in-50 strains are marked uncurable and only exist during incubation — the Disease Inspector will note this clearly.

    Curing an Infection

The Inspector lists a specific cure item (such as a Honey Bottle, Milk Bucket, Golden Apple, or similar) for each curable strain. To cure:

    • A mob: hold the cure item and interact with the infected mob. The item is consumed on success.
    • Yourself: hold the cure item and sneak-use the Disease Inspector while infected.

    Abilities And Mechanics

    Disease Strains

    • Roughly 1 in 12 non-boss mobs spawn already infected.
    • Each strain is procedurally named (e.g. Amber Blight, Crimson Pox, Shadow Plague).
    • After a ~2-minute incubation, the disease becomes active and pulses debuffs every 10 seconds.
    • Effects escalate with criticality: lower criticality brings Slowness, Poison, and Hunger; higher criticality adds Weakness, Blindness, and Wither.
    • Debuff particles are suppressed — you won't see clouds, only the status icons.

    Transmission

    Diseases spread through four routes:

    RouteDescription
ProximityBeing within ~3 blocks of an infected entity without full suit protection
TouchComing within ~1 block (physical contact)
CombatHitting or being hit by an infected entity
Contaminated itemsPicking up infected dropped items from the ground

    Behavior Alteration

Approximately 35 % of strains carry a behavior-alteration flag. Once active, these strains periodically cause erratic movement — random knockback and direction changes. On players this can also trigger an involuntary attack against the nearest entity, accompanied by the action-bar message "[Strain] makes your arm twitch!"

    The Biohazard Suit

Wearing all four pieces simultaneously grants complete immunity to infection and disease pulses. Individual pieces also provide armor protection and can be enchanted.

    PieceArmor PointsDurability
    Yellow Biohazard Hood190
    Yellow Biohazard Suit3120
    Yellow Biohazard Pants2105
    Yellow Biohazard Boots180

Warning: Taking significant damage can rip the suit off entirely. You'll hear a tearing sound and see "Your biohazard suit tore open!" — immediately re-equip all pieces or you become vulnerable.

    Progression And Strategy

Early game: Craft the Disease Inspector first using redstone, a copper ingot, and a glass pane. Use it on nearby mobs before engaging them in combat — infected mobs can pass diseases to you with a single hit.

Mid game: Gather yellow wool and gold ingots to craft the full biohazard suit. Wearing the complete set lets you freely handle infected mobs without risk. Keep spare suit pieces in your inventory in case one tears off.

Outbreak response: When you find an infected mob, you have three options:

    1. Cure it — identify the cure item from the Inspector GUI and apply it.
    2. Quarantine it — pen the mob away from others to prevent proximity spread.
    3. Eliminate it — removes the source but risks a combat-transmission hit, so wear your suit.

Uncurable strains: A small number of strains (~1-in-50) are incubation-only and cannot be cured. The Inspector will flag these. Quarantine or eliminate affected mobs before the incubation ends.

Behavior-altering strains are the most dangerous in crowded areas. An infected mob may involuntarily strike nearby mobs or players, spreading the disease to new hosts rapidly. Prioritize inspecting and containing these strains early.
