Description:
Biohazard Outbreak turns your Minecraft world into an active epidemic zone. Many non-boss mobs spawn already carrying a uniquely named disease strain. Each strain incubates silently for two minutes, then begins pulsing debuffs onto its host every ten seconds. Diseases spread to you and other mobs through proximity, physical contact, combat, and even dropped items lying on the ground. Your tools for survival are a purpose-built biohazard suit that blocks all infection, and a Disease Inspector that gives you a full diagnostic readout on any entity in the world.
| Item | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Disease Inspector | Handheld scanner; opens a detailed disease GUI for any mob or yourself |
| Yellow Biohazard Hood | Helmet slot; part of the full protective suit |
| Yellow Biohazard Suit | Chest slot; part of the full protective suit |
| Yellow Biohazard Pants | Legs slot; part of the full protective suit |
| Yellow Biohazard Boots | Feet slot; part of the full protective suit |
Hold the Disease Inspector in your hand. To scan a mob, simply interact (right-click / tap) it. To scan yourself, sneak while using the item. A GUI panel opens and displays:
About 1-in-50 strains are marked uncurable and only exist during incubation — the Disease Inspector will note this clearly.
The Inspector lists a specific cure item (such as a Honey Bottle, Milk Bucket, Golden Apple, or similar) for each curable strain. To cure:

Diseases spread through four routes:
| Route | Description |
|---|---|
| Proximity | Being within ~3 blocks of an infected entity without full suit protection |
| Touch | Coming within ~1 block (physical contact) |
| Combat | Hitting or being hit by an infected entity |
| Contaminated items | Picking up infected dropped items from the ground |
Approximately 35 % of strains carry a behavior-alteration flag. Once active, these strains periodically cause erratic movement — random knockback and direction changes. On players this can also trigger an involuntary attack against the nearest entity, accompanied by the action-bar message "[Strain] makes your arm twitch!"
Wearing all four pieces simultaneously grants complete immunity to infection and disease pulses. Individual pieces also provide armor protection and can be enchanted.
| Piece | Armor Points | Durability |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow Biohazard Hood | 1 | 90 |
| Yellow Biohazard Suit | 3 | 120 |
| Yellow Biohazard Pants | 2 | 105 |
| Yellow Biohazard Boots | 1 | 80 |
Warning: Taking significant damage can rip the suit off entirely. You'll hear a tearing sound and see "Your biohazard suit tore open!" — immediately re-equip all pieces or you become vulnerable.
Early game: Craft the Disease Inspector first using redstone, a copper ingot, and a glass pane. Use it on nearby mobs before engaging them in combat — infected mobs can pass diseases to you with a single hit.
Mid game: Gather yellow wool and gold ingots to craft the full biohazard suit. Wearing the complete set lets you freely handle infected mobs without risk. Keep spare suit pieces in your inventory in case one tears off.
Outbreak response: When you find an infected mob, you have three options:
Uncurable strains: A small number of strains (~1-in-50) are incubation-only and cannot be cured. The Inspector will flag these. Quarantine or eliminate affected mobs before the incubation ends.
Behavior-altering strains are the most dangerous in crowded areas. An infected mob may involuntarily strike nearby mobs or players, spreading the disease to new hosts rapidly. Prioritize inspecting and containing these strains early.
