Description:
IMPORTANT: THE FILE IS CALLED ONLY "BLOOD ALTAR", BUT IT'S A COMEPLETE MOD! This mod adds two altar blocks: Holy Altar and Blood Altar. They can grant useful effects to weapones, in exchange for Minecraft materials and new resource type: souls! There are two kinss of these: pure souls and damned souls. Pure ones are granted for killing iron golems and used for blessings at Blood Altar, while damned souls are recieved from evokers, and used to get blessings from Holy Altar. Also, once a player uses one altar, he becomes sinner or pure. This blocks him access to other altar until he dies, after which he can choose again. Blessing descriptions are provided in-game.
Manage versions and create new iterations of this mod.
This will create a new mod based on "Saints and Sinners (READ DESCRIPTION!)" with your modifications. The original mod will remain unchanged and you'll be credited as the author of the remix.

User request: Blood altar is a block that has texture made of polished deepslate with red pentagram on block's top. It doesn't do anything yet. Blood altar is crafted from three polished deepslate blocks, a skull and two pieces of red dye. Edit v2: Now add a new item to the mod: innocent soul. It can't be crafted, as it's gained by killing villagers, and has a texture of a blue will o wisp. Edit v3: When the Altar is clicked, open a pop-up menu. In the menu, there are few exclucive enchantments and their descriptions. Those enchantments are unobtainable anywhere else. To get them, player has to hold a weapon he wants to enchant. It can be sword, spear or mace. Those so-called blood blessings cost a set number of innocent souls and other specified materials, both of which are deleated from user's inventory when he chooses a blessing. Now for their list. "Blessing of plague" costs 10 souls and 32 rotten flesh. It makes it so the weapon inflicts a new potion effect, called plague. It is infinite and can't be cured with milk. Mobs under it's effect have aditional slowness 1 until they die, and when they die, they turn into a zombiefied variant. All illagers, players and villagers turn into normal zombies. If a player is zombified, the zombie has the same armor and weapon the player was holding when dying. Animals can't be zombified. This spell can be useful to not kill player's instantly, but for example make it plagued and kill iy later from a distance, when he's near his teammates. Another blessing, "blessing of bloodlust" makes the player heal for the same damage he deals to the target with blessed weapon. It costs 20 souls and two potions, one og healing 1 and one of harm 1. Edit v4: Change the soul dropping system. It doesn't drop from villagers anymore, but it's given directly to player's inventory when he kills a villager of any profession. Also, change the things needed for blessing of bloodlust. Still 20 souls, but instead of potions, now require 10 golden carrots. Edit v6: Change the soul name to pure soul, and make it drop from iron golems instead of villagers. Also, change the soul prices on blessing of plague to 4 souls, and five souls on blessing of bloodlust. And fix the bloodlust to instantly heal the user for the amount of damage delt, instead of givong potion effect of regeneration. Edit v8: Change the skull in recipe of blood altar for wither skull. Also, add a new block, Holy Altar. It has no usage yet, and is made from three blocks of polished diorite, diamond block and two glowstone dust. It has texture of white bricks and has golden cross with diamond in the middle. Also, add a new item, damned soul, a black will o wisp. It drops from evokers. Edit v9: Make the damned soul automatically appear in player's inventory when he kills an evoker, just like pure soul with iron golems. Also, list of holy blessings, which can be gotten from Holy Altar in same way as blood blessings from Blood Altar, which is via identical pop-up menu. "Blessing of guidance" costs 2 damned souls and 32 glowstone dust. It makes all hostile mobs within 10 block radius of player (any direction) have the glown effect, when the player holds the weapon with this blessing. "Blessing of divine shockwave", 3 damned souls and 10 TNT blocks, creates an explosion of golden particles, when a hostile mob is killed. The explosion hurts hard and knocks back all hostile mobs nearby. Also, create two new effects. If a player has even once used the Blood Altar, they have effect called "sinner" until death. Sinners are treated by blessing of divine smite as hostile targets. Aldo, users of Holy Altar have effect "pure" until death or until killing a villager. Pure players can't use Blood Altar at all, and sinners can't use the Holy one too. But they can still place both of them, just can't interact with one. Edit v13: Fix the blessing of guidance. When a weapon with itnis held, all nearby enemies and sinner players recive potion effect of glow, until they leave the range or weapon is unequiped by holder. Edit v14: Change how the blessing of guidance works, and change it's description too. Now when a hostile mob get's within 10 blocks from player, only this player will recieve a chat message saying "The weapon senses danger." And when a sinner player will get within this range, the message will say "Your weapon senses a heretic!" Edit v15: Make it so player's mark as pure or sinner resets upon his death, so he can choose again. Also, the blessing of guidance sends a message not non-stop, but every ten seconds, or when a new target gets within range. Edit v17: If a weapon has blood blessing, it will have it's name in red, and yellow if it has a holy one. Name which blessings are applied in weapon's description Edit v18: Make sure all blessings have same confirm and description pop-up as the guidance one. Edit v19: Make the player a sinner or pure only when he chooses a blessing anf not just touches an altar, to let him inspect both sides.
