- Equip it in your helmet slot. Flight is granted immediately — use the Toggle Astral Mode keybind (default: check Controls) to activate full astral projection.
- Open your inventory while wearing the helm to access the Helm Control Panel, where you can switch view/camera modes, toggle utilities, and manage astral features. Hold Shift while opening inventory for a compact radial version.
- Try pressing X (default) to activate Astral X-Ray, or G to release any frozen floating blocks you have placed.
Overview
The Astral Control Helm is a powerful helmet that transforms how you interact with the Minecraft world. Wearing it grants defensive bonuses, flight, and access to a private pocket-dimension copy of your current chunk. From that astral realm you can mine, build, scout, and manipulate the world using a suite of special tools — all while your physical body stays behind, guarded by an astral clone.
What It Adds
| Content | Type | Description |
|---|
| Astral Control Helm | Helmet (armor) | The core item; grants all abilities while worn |
| Astral Infinite Ore | Block | A regenerating ore block found or placed in the world |
| Astral Body (Clone) | Entity | A copy of you that obeys normal gravity in the astral dimension |
Abilities And Mechanics
Passive Bonuses (always on while worn)
- Armor & Toughness — high protection value (8 points for the helmet slot) with 4.0 toughness and slight knockback resistance.
- Jump Boost — a subtle jump boost is applied continuously.
- Flight — you gain the ability to fly while the helm is equipped. Toggle flight with the helm's dedicated flight keybind. Unequipping the helm ends flight immediately.
Astral Projection
Activate astral mode with the Toggle Astral Mode keybind. When active:
- You enter a private pocket-dimension copy of the chunk you are currently in, letting you explore and build without affecting the live world directly.
- An Astral Clone (your body) is left behind. The clone obeys gravity and normal collisions. Damage dealt to the clone is reflected back to enemies, while you remain protected.
- Status effects (fire, drowning, potion effects) experienced by the clone can transfer to you, so keep your clone safe.
- Deactivating astral mode returns you to your body. Flight ends when you exit astral mode unless you are in Creative or Spectator.
Helm Control Panel
Open your inventory while wearing the helm to access the control panel. Hold Shift to open a compact radial version instead. From the panel you can:
- Change camera/view modes
- Toggle Astral X-Ray (default keybind: X) — see through terrain in the astral dimension
- Use Release Frozen Blocks (default keybind: G) — releases any frozen falling blocks you have anchored in midair
- Toggle True Vanish — hides you from the TAB list, chat, mobs, and player-detection systems; you appear to have left the server entirely
- Access other utility options
Astral Construction & Frozen Blocks
While in astral mode, you can place falling blocks (sand, gravel, concrete powder, etc.) and anchor them in midair as temporary platforms. These frozen blocks stay suspended until:
- You press G (Release Frozen Blocks) to drop them all at once, or
- A player not wearing the helm touches them, which releases them immediately.
This lets you build scaffolding, traps, or platforms that vanish the moment a non-helm player walks into them.
Astral Visor
Sneak + right-click while the helm is already on your head to toggle the Astral Visor. With the visor active, looking at another player shows their vital signs, and right-clicking them opens their inventory.
Astral X-Ray
Press X (default) or use the control panel to toggle X-Ray vision, letting you spot ores and structures through solid blocks while in the astral dimension.
True Vanish
Activate True Vanish from the control panel (or its toggle) to disappear completely — hidden from the TAB list, server chat, mob targeting, and player-detection mechanics. You still exist and can act; you simply appear to everyone else as if you have logged off.
Astral Infinite Ore
The Astral Infinite Ore is a special block that acts as an infinite resource node.
- Requires an iron-tier pickaxe or better to mine.
- Breaking it yields a normal drop (like any ore block).
- The broken spot immediately regenerates into a random stone or ore block, allowing you to mine the same location repeatedly for fresh resources.
- This makes it an excellent passive resource generator — place it somewhere accessible and keep mining.
World Edit Commands
Helm wearers gain access to a powerful suite of in-game world-editing slash commands. These commands are only available to players wearing the Astral Control Helm. Key commands include:
| Command | Function |
|---|
/wand | Gives you the Astral World Edit Tool (a wooden axe) for selecting regions |
/pos1 / /pos2 | Set selection corners at your current position |
/hpos1 / /hpos2 | Set selection corners at your crosshair target |
/chunk | Select the entire chunk you are standing in |
/set <block> | Fill the selection with a block |
/replace <from> <to> | Replace one block type with another in the selection |
/copy / /cut / /paste | Clipboard operations |
/rotate <degrees> | Rotate clipboard contents |
/flip [axis] | Mirror clipboard contents |
/schem save/load/list | Save and load named schematics |
/sphere / /hsphere | Generate solid or hollow spheres |
/cyl / /hcyl | Generate cylinders |
/undo / /redo | Step through edit history |
/smooth | Smooth terrain in the selection |
/drain | Remove water from the selection |
/forest / /flora | Generate trees or plants in the selection |
Use the wand (wooden axe) to left-click for Position 1 and right-click for Position 2 to define a region, then apply edit commands to it.
Progression And Strategy
- Early game: Craft the helm as soon as you have iron ingots, a lightning rod, redstone, tinted glass, observers, and an ender eye. The recipe is auto-unlocked on join.
- Mining: Use the astral dimension to safely scout for ores before committing to mining tunnels. Pair with X-Ray for maximum efficiency.
- Combat: Keep your Astral Clone in a safe position — it reflects damage back to attackers, giving you a defensive advantage. True Vanish lets you ambush or escape undetected.
- Building: Use frozen falling blocks as instant temporary scaffolding. Release them with G when done to clean up or trigger block falls as traps.
- Infinite resources: Place or find an Astral Infinite Ore block and mine it repeatedly with an iron+ pickaxe for a sustainable ore source.
- Repair: The helm is repaired with Iron Ingots in an anvil.
