Description

a fossilised graveyard biome that occurs commonly on the overworld. the floor is coated with pale moss and only fallen trees made of petrified wood. you can make fences and slabs and doors with petrified wood and it is slightly paler than oak and it is resistant to burning. the biome is covered with huge fossils on the surface and a new orange coloured ore called amber can be found in this biome. you can use it to make armour and tools. the armour and tools have around half the durability of netherite. the armour does the same protection as diamond armour and the tools do the same as diamond tools but they are all orange. the ore only occurs in this biome and occurs in large veins of around 4 to 14 at all y levels

Mod Wiki

Amber Fossilwood

Quickstart

  1. Explore the Overworld until you find the fossil graveyard biome. Its ground is covered in Pale Moss, with fallen Petrified Wood trees and huge surface fossils.

  2. Search the biome for orange Amber Ore. Mine it with a pickaxe; the ore drops Amber directly. Amber Ore generates in veins of roughly 4–14 blocks at all Y levels.

  3. Use a crafting table to turn Amber into orange tools and armor. Start with an Amber Pickaxe, then prepare the rest of the set.

  4. Equip Amber armor in the armor slots and use the tools normally. Amber gear works similarly to diamond gear but has about half the durability of netherite equipment.

  5. Explore the biome in well-lit areas. Fossil Crawlers spawn in low light and can climb and leap at targets.

  6. In Creative mode, search for the Fossil Crawler Spawn Egg to place one. You can also summon one with:

    /summon com_amber_fossilwood_tgqanfbh:fossil_crawler

Overview

Amber Fossilwood adds a commonly occurring Overworld fossil graveyard biome. The biome features:

  • Pale Moss-covered ground
  • Fallen trees made from fire-resistant Petrified Wood
  • Huge Fossil Bone formations on the surface
  • Orange Amber Ore found throughout the underground
  • Amber tools and armor
  • The hostile Fossil Crawler mob

The biome is both a source of unusual building materials and the only natural source of Amber Ore.

Pale Moss is shovel-effective. Petrified Wood and Fossil Bone are pickaxe-effective, while the Petrified Wood building pieces are axe-effective.

Amber Gear

Amber gear has a bright orange appearance.

  • Amber tools perform like diamond tools.
  • Amber tools have 1,015 durability.
  • Amber armor provides diamond-level protection.
  • Amber armor has lower durability than diamond armor but is around half as durable as netherite armor.
  • Amber can repair Amber armor through the normal item-repair system.

How To Use

Exploring the Fossil Graveyard

The fossil graveyard is easy to recognize from its pale floor, scattered fallen Petrified Wood trees, and enormous fossils exposed on the surface. Gather the materials you need while searching for Amber Ore.

Amber Ore can appear at any Y level inside this biome, so you can find it while mining underground or exploring caves. The ore occurs in sizeable veins rather than only as isolated blocks.

Mining Amber Ore

Bring a pickaxe when searching for Amber Ore. Mining the ore produces Amber, which is used directly in crafting.

The ore is exclusive to the fossil graveyard biome, but Fossil Crawlers can also drop Amber when killed by a player.

Building With Petrified Wood

Petrified Wood is slightly paler than Oak and is resistant to burning, making it useful for warm-colored builds and safer wooden-style structures.

Use it to craft:

  • Petrified Wood Fences
  • Petrified Wood Slabs
  • Petrified Wood Doors

Place a Petrified Wood Door like a normal door and use the interact button to open or close it. Fences and slabs can be placed as ordinary building blocks.

Fighting Fossil Crawlers

Fossil Crawlers are spider-like monsters found in the fossil graveyard biome. They can climb blocks and leap toward targets.

They spawn:

  • In the fossil graveyard biome
  • In low light
  • On Pale Moss, grass, or dirt
  • On Easy, Normal, or Hard difficulty
  • On the surface or underground

A Fossil Crawler is usually neutral in brighter conditions but becomes dangerous in darkness. Some may appear with a skeleton rider.

Crafting And Obtaining

Amber

Mine Amber Ore in the fossil graveyard to obtain Amber. You can also obtain Amber by killing a Fossil Crawler yourself.

Amber is the repair material for Amber armor. Repairing with Amber restores a small portion of the armor's maximum durability at a time.

Petrified Wood Building Pieces

Petrified Wood is collected from the fallen trees in the biome. Use it to craft these decorative and functional blocks:

Pale Moss, Petrified Wood, Fossil Bone, and Amber Ore are found as part of the biome rather than made through the available crafting recipes.

Abilities And Mechanics

Amber Tools

Amber tools are orange, diamond-like tools for mining, chopping, digging, farming, and combat. Their 1,015 durability makes them useful for extended expeditions, but they wear out substantially sooner than netherite tools.

Amber Armor

Amber armor provides strong protection comparable to diamond armor. Its orange color makes the full set easy to recognize, while its shorter durability means you should carry spare Amber for repairs.

Petrified Wood

Petrified Wood provides a pale alternative to Oak for building. It is resistant to burning, so it is well suited to structures where ordinary wooden blocks would be risky.

A player-killed Fossil Crawler can drop:

  • 0–2 String
  • 0–1 Spider Eye
  • 1 Amber

String and Spider Eye drops can be affected by Looting.

Progression And Strategy

  1. Locate a fossil graveyard. Bring basic tools, food, and torches so you can explore safely.
  2. Gather Petrified Wood. Use the fallen trees for early shelter, tools, and building materials.
  3. Search for Amber Ore. Since it generates at all Y levels, investigate both exposed caves and deeper mining areas.
  4. Craft Amber tools. An Amber Pickaxe improves continued mining, while an Amber Sword and armor set make nighttime exploration safer.
  5. Carry repair Amber. Amber armor can be repaired with Amber, and the gear's shorter durability makes maintenance important.
  6. Light your base and mine entrances. Fossil Crawlers spawn in dark areas and can climb, so ordinary walls alone may not keep them away.
  7. Use Fossil Bone and Petrified Wood together. The pale wood and large fossil blocks create a distinctive graveyard-themed building palette.
