Mod Wiki
Webwalker Ascension
Quickstart
- Gather string, spider eyes, and cobwebs, then craft a Webwalker Codex at a crafting table:

-
Find a Webstalker in the Webbed Wilds. They spawn on the surface or underground in low light on Easy, Normal, or Hard difficulty. In Creative, search for the Webstalker Spawn Egg. With cheats, you can summon one with:
/summon com_webwalker_ascension_xr44hmxp:webstalker -
Let a Webstalker bite you. Every bite inflicts Poison and has a 25% chance to awaken your spider abilities. Awakening is permanent for that player.
-
Hold and use the Webwalker Codex to open the Webwalker Skill Tree. Spend skill points to unlock abilities as you gain mastery.
-
After awakening, defeat spiders and Webstalkers yourself to earn mastery XP. A regular spider gives 1 mastery XP, while a Webstalker gives 3.
Overview
Webwalker Ascension turns encounters with spiders into a progression system. Survive Webstalker attacks, awaken your powers, earn mastery levels, and use the Webwalker Codex to unlock four spider-themed skills.
Your awakened progress includes:
- Mastery XP and levels
- Unspent skill points
- Four unlockable skills
- A Webwalker status bar showing your level, XP, and available points
What It Adds
Webstalker
Webstalkers are climbing spider-like monsters with 16 health and a melee attack that deals 2 damage. They:
- Spawn in areas tagged as the Webbed Wilds
- Spawn on the surface or underground
- Prefer light levels from 0 through 7
- Appear on Easy, Normal, and Hard difficulty
- Become hostile in darker areas and can calm in brighter surroundings
- Can leap at targets and climb
- Target players, snow golems, and iron golems
- May appear as jockeys with skeletons, strays, bogged, or wither skeletons depending on the surroundings
A Webstalker can drop:
- 0–2 string
- 0–1 spider eye when killed by a player
- Additional loot may be possible with Looting
Nature Blocks
The mod adds four nature-themed blocks:
- Webbed Ground — a full ground block useful for building web-covered areas
- Silk Blossom — a small plant that can be placed on grass, dirt, or Webbed Ground
- Webwood Log — a full log block for building
- Webleaf — a leaf-like full block for decorating
All four blocks can be found in the Creative inventory. Breaking one returns that block.
How To Use
The Webwalker Codex
Use the Webwalker Codex while holding it to open the skill tree.
- Before awakening, the Codex is dormant and does not open the skill menu.
- After awakening, the menu shows your level, total mastery XP, and unspent skill points.
- Select an available skill to learn it.
- Each skill can be learned once.
- A skill requires both its listed level and an unspent skill point.
Silk Shot Controls
After learning Silk Shot:
- Put the Webwalker Codex in your selected hotbar slot.
- Hold the Codex.
- Sneak or crouch.
While you remain sneaking, Silk Shot attempts to place a regular Minecraft web in open space approximately two blocks in front of you, about once per second. It does not consume a web item. If the target space is occupied, you will see a message that the silk shot needs open space.
Crafting And Obtaining
Webbed Ground
Webbed Ground is crafted from string and a spider eye:

The recipe creates four Webbed Ground blocks. Webbed Ground can also be placed or obtained through the Creative inventory.
Webwalker Codex
The Codex requires string, cobwebs, and a spider eye:
The Codex is the key item for viewing and spending skill points, and for using Silk Shot after that skill is learned.
Block Placement And Tools
- Place Silk Blossom on the top face of grass, dirt, or Webbed Ground.
- Webwood Log is quickest to mine with an axe.
- Webbed Ground is shovel-effective.
- Webleaf breaks quickly and can be used for fast decoration.
Abilities And Mechanics
Awakening
A Webstalker bite always applies Poison for approximately four seconds. If you have not awakened yet, each bite has a 25% chance to awaken your spider abilities.
When awakening succeeds, you receive a message and can begin earning mastery XP. If the bite does not awaken you, keep fighting Webstalkers and try again.
Skills
| Skill | Required level | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Wall Crawler | 1 | Grants faster movement and is the skill-tree node for climbing mobility. |
| Spider Sense | 2 | Grants continuous Night Vision, allowing you to see in darkness. |
| Silk Shot | 3 | Sneak while holding the Webwalker Codex to cast webs into open space. |
| Venom Resistance | 4 | Grants continuous Resistance, helping you withstand damage and shrug off attacks. |
Awakened effects refresh automatically while you are playing. Venom Resistance provides damage resistance; Webstalker bites can still apply Poison.
Mastery XP And Levels
You earn mastery XP only after awakening:
- Kill a regular spider: 1 mastery XP
- Kill a Webstalker: 3 mastery XP
Every 5 mastery XP advances you by one level and grants one skill point. The action bar displays your current progress in the form:
- Webwalker level
- XP earned toward the next 5 XP
- Unspent skill points
- A Silk Shot indicator after Silk Shot is learned
When you reach a new level, open the Webwalker Codex to spend your new point.
Progression And Strategy
- Craft the Codex early, even before awakening, so it is ready when a bite succeeds.
- Fight Webstalkers in a controlled area so you can survive repeated attempts at awakening.
- Use brighter areas to make Webstalkers less aggressive, but remember that they can still retaliate when attacked or when they acquire a target.
- Learn Wall Crawler first for improved mobility, then work toward Spider Sense for cave and night exploration.
- Silk Shot is useful for quickly placing webs as obstacles or decorations without carrying cobwebs.
- Save a point for Venom Resistance if you regularly fight Webstalkers or other dangerous mobs.
- Keep the Codex in your hotbar after unlocking Silk Shot so you can switch between the skill tree and web casting quickly.
