Vines And Vintages
Description
Vines & Vintages adds a full terroir-driven viticulture loop to Minecraft: find wild grapes or buy seed packets, craft trellises and supports, plant and train grapevines through visible growth stages, then harvest, press, ferment, and age wines — with pruning options, possible fermentation failure, pomace distillation, Reserve and fortified-style bottles, and longer-effect premium vintages. Build and decorate expanding vineyards and cellars with craftable Vine Posts, transparent galvanized wire lines (placeable in X or Z orientation without blocking movement), Arbor Caps, Stone Retaining Walls, Wine Casks and Spigots, stackable Wicker Baskets you fill by right‑clicking, Wine Racks, Glass Hangers, Sulphur Smudgers, a Vintner’s Lantern, plus a Decanter and Cheese Board tasting hub to sample your vintages. Every wine bucket and every grape vine seed now has a unique appearance so you can instantly tell Chardonnay, Concord, Frost‑Bite, Muscat, Pinot, and Sable apart; follow the intuitive in‑game steps (string posts and wire, plant and train vines, right‑click baskets, attach spigots) to begin producing, aging, and sampling your own wines. Overview
Vines & Vintages adds a complete terroir-driven winemaking loop to Minecraft Bedrock. You grow six distinct grape varieties on trellised vineyard structures, harvest and press them into juice, ferment and age the juice into wines, and ultimately produce premium Reserve, Fortified, and Vintage bottles with enhanced effects. The mod also includes full vineyard décor (posts, wire, walls, arbors), cellar furniture (casks, racks, crates), a tasting hub (Decanter and Cheese Board), cheese-making, pomace distillation, and even a cure for Zombie Villagers.

Special drinks:
- Blaze-Kissed Mulled Wine — fire-oriented effect
- Glacial Ice-Wine / Fortified Glacial Ice-Wine — thermal resistance

Drinking wine near other players (social tasting) may grant different effects than drinking alone.

How To Use
Building a Vineyard
- Place Vine Posts in a row with gaps between them.
- Right-click between posts while holding Galvanized Wire to string transparent wire lines in X or Z orientation. Wire does not block player movement.
- Place a Trellis block where you want vines to climb. Arbor Caps can be placed on top for a covered pergola look.
- Right-click the Trellis with grape seeds to plant. The vine grows through visible stages — wait for full maturity.
Harvesting
- Craft Wicker Harvest Baskets and right-click ripe grapevines to fill them.
- Right-click the filled basket to collect the grapes.
- Optionally use Vineyard Shears to prune vines during growth for management.
Pressing Juice
- Place a Grape Press or Iron-Rimmed Press.
- Right-click it while holding grapes to press them into grape juice (bottles) or a bucket of grape juice.
Fermentation
- Fill a Fermentation Barrel (any wood variant) with grape juice buckets.
- Wait for fermentation to complete. Fermentation can fail — watch for signs of infection.
- If a vine or barrel becomes infected (black/plagued), use Vinegar on infected vines to cure them, or craft a Sanitizing Splash Potion to handle contamination.
- A Sulphur Smudger placed nearby helps protect your operation.
Aging into Reserve
- Open the Aging Rack interface and store standard wine bottles.
- The rack holds up to 6 bottles. It must be in a dark location (light level ≤ 4).
- Once bottles have aged long enough, they become Reserve wines with stronger or longer effects.
Fortifying Wine
- Combine any standard wine bottle with Vintner's Spirit at the crafting table to produce a Fortified variant with bolder effects.
Distillation
- Pressing grapes produces Grape Pomace as a byproduct.
- Load pomace into the Copper Distillery to produce Vintner's Spirit, used for fortification and sanitation.
Cheese-Making
- Craft Fresh Cheese Curd from milk buckets and sugar.
- Use a Cheese Press Mold to press curds into a Cheese Wheel.
- Place the Cheese Wheel block, or eat it directly. Display it on a Cheese Board for tasting.
Tasting Hub
- Place a Decanter and right-click it with a wine bottle to display and sample your vintage.
- Place a Cheese Board and right-click it with a Cheese Wheel to set up a tasting spread.
Curing Zombie Villagers
- Craft a Sanitizing Splash Potion from Vintner's Spirit, gunpowder, and a glass bottle.
- Throw it near a Zombie Villager to instantly cure them (no golden apple needed).
Abilities And Mechanics
Wine Effects
Drinking wine grants Vintner's Grace, which nurtures nearby grapevines and provides Regeneration. Higher tiers provide stronger and longer effects:
| Tier | Effect Duration / Strength |
|---|---|
| Standard | Vintner's Grace I, short duration |
| Vintage | Vintner's Grace II, longer duration |
| Reserve | Vintner's Grace, extended duration |
| Fortified | Bold boost (×1.5 duration) |
Special wines have unique effects:
- Sun-Kissed Mead / Fortified — grants Iron Skin (shielding, impact softening)
- Glacial Ice-Wine / Fortified — grants Thermal Adaptation (fire resistance + freeze immunity)
- Drinking socially (near other players) may display different flavour messages
Fermentation Failure
Fermentation can fail if conditions are not maintained, producing ruined batches. Sulphur Smudgers reduce this risk. Infected grapevines can be cured with Vinegar.

Found in the World
- Wild Grapevines generate naturally and can be harvested for grapes to extract seeds.
- Village tavern and tannery chests may contain Sweet Purple Wine, Dry Green Wine, Aged Red Wine, and Cheese Wheels as loot.
Progression And Strategy
Early game: Explore for Wild Grapevines to collect your first grapes. Extract seeds at the crafting table and build a small trellis row with Vine Posts and wire. Craft a basic Grape Press and one Fermentation Barrel to get your first wines.
Mid game: Expand your vineyard with multiple varieties. Build a proper cellar using Cellar Crates, Aging Racks (keep them dark!), and Stacked Wine Casks. Start distilling Grape Pomace in a Copper Distillery to produce Vintner's Spirit for fortified wines. Add a Sulphur Smudger to protect fermentation.
Late game: Age your best wines into Reserve bottles for the longest-lasting Vintner's Grace buffs. Fortify your Reserve wines with Vintner's Spirit for maximum potency. Set up a Decanter and Cheese Board tasting hub to sample your full range of vintages. Use Sanitizing Splash Potions to instantly cure Zombie Villagers. Grow all six varieties to produce every wine style and explore their unique biome-influenced terroir effects.
Tip: Vintner's Grace from wine actively nurtures your grapevines while it is active — drinking wine while tending your vineyard is always a good idea.
