Description:
/verdant in chat for an in-game overview, and /verdant guide for a step-by-step tutorial. For the Sky & Ocean expansion, use /verdant_sky and /verdant_sky guide.Verdant Hivecraft transforms Minecraft into a genetics-driven apiary simulation. You breed, nurse, and manage humanoid bee NPCs that live in a persistent colony, each fulfilling a role: Forager, Builder, Nurse, Guardian, or Queen. Bees run a rich autonomous activity loop — collecting nectar from flowers, tending larvae, dancing, scouting, sharing forage gifts, repelling wasp invaders, and even clearing trees. Every contribution is logged in a work ledger.
Progression comes from:

/verdant worker command sub-system to assign tasks or patrol routes. The flowers and crops you place near the hive influence which genetic traits larvae inherit. Arrange different flower species to bias offspring toward desired families (Forager, Guardian, etc.). Queen crop plants (tended by humanoid nurses) provide bonuses to larva growth speed and trait expression.
Access the work ledger to see each bee NPC's contribution history. Use this to identify underperforming bees or track resource output.
Craft or find a Sky-Tide Compass to enter Concord sessions — special encounters that award:
Progress is tracked on the persistent Sky-Ocean scoreboard (visible in-game). Type /verdant_sky guide for full session guidance. All 240 named variants across twelve families have distinct appearances; larvae visually mature into their true family identity as they grow.
Multiple wasp species will raid your hive. Guardian bees repel them autonomously, but you can help directly. Wasp Stingers dropped by wasps are a crafting ingredient for Guardian Larva cells.

Feeding larvae with nursery foods accelerates their maturation and influences trait development. A wide range of honey-infused crops serve as nursery foods or forager gifts.

Combining crops and hive ingredients produces higher-tier foods useful for nursing larvae, feeding yourself, or gifting to NPC bees.

Each bee NPC cycles through behaviours based on its role and environment:
| Behaviour | Description |
|---|---|
| Nursing | Feeds larvae in the nursery with appropriate foods |
| Tending | Maintains the Hive Heart and queen crops |
| Foraging | Flies to nearby flowers; returns with nectar and pollen gifts |
| Dancing | Waggle dance communicates forage locations to hive-mates |
| Scouting | Explores for new flower patches |
| Sleeping | Nocturne-family bees rest by day and work at night |
| Repelling wasps | Guardian bees intercept and fight wasp invaders |
| Tree clearing | Builder bees autonomously clear obstructions |
Use /verdant worker sub-commands to direct individual bees: assign patrol routes, set foraging targets, or restrict activity areas. Worker assignments persist across sessions.
Placing too many flowering plants too close together can create Over-Pollinated Garden Soil and attract Over-Pollination Wasps. Different wasp types carry different threats — Ember Wasps set things on fire, Frost Wasps slow bees, Honey Thief Wasps steal stored resources, and Sticky Raider Wasps immobilise defenders. Build a Guardian population before expanding your flower garden aggressively.
