- In Survival, use the crafting recipe below.

- You can also use
/give @s com_tidebound_pearl_3msman62:my_sword 1.
- Make sure your hunger bar is not completely full.
- Hold the pearl and use it like food. Eating takes about 1.6 seconds and slows your movement while you eat.
- Enter water immediately after eating. During the transformation, your head must be underwater to avoid the pearl’s drowning curse.
- Stay near water and experiment with underwater exploration. After seven in-game days, the transformation reaches its final state.

Overview
The Tidebound Pearl is an edible item that binds you to the ocean. Eating it restores food and saturation, but begins a seven-day transformation:
- On land, you take recurring drowning damage.
- Water becomes your refuge.
- You experience nausea during the transformation.
- After seven in-game days, the curse ends and you gain permanent oceanic benefits.
What It Adds
Tidebound Pearl
The pearl is a food item with the following properties:
- Restores 6 food points.
- Provides 0.8 saturation.
- Cannot be eaten while your hunger bar is full.
- Uses the normal eating controls.
- Slows movement while being eaten.
How To Use
Eating the Pearl
Hold the Tidebound Pearl and use it while hungry. Once consumed, the transformation begins immediately.
The pearl only activates when eaten by a player. Simply carrying it, dropping it, or placing it in a container does not trigger its effects.
Surviving the Transformation
For the first seven in-game days:
- Your water breathing is removed.
- Nausea is continuously applied.
- You take 2 points of drowning damage approximately every second when the space around your head is not water.
- A water block or flowing water block around your head protects you from the land damage.
Keep a safe underwater base, carry food, and prepare a route between water sources before eating the pearl. Staying submerged is the most reliable way to survive.
Abilities And Mechanics
The Seven-Day Transition
The transition lasts 168,000 game ticks, equal to seven complete Minecraft days. The timer continues as the world runs and is tied to the player who ate the pearl.
The initial state does not grant water breathing, so being underwater still requires your own method of supplying oxygen. The pearl’s curse protects you from its land damage only while your head is in water; it does not prevent ordinary underwater hazards.
Final State
After seven in-game days, the Tidebound Pearl reaches its final state:
- You gain continuously refreshed Water Breathing.
- You gain continuously refreshed Night Vision.
- The recurring land damage stops.
- Nausea stops.
These benefits remain active as long as the final state is retained. Eating another Tidebound Pearl starts a new seven-day transition and replaces the final state.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the pearl at a crafting table using:
- 1 Ender Pearl
- 2 Kelp
- 2 Coral
- 4 Water Buckets
The complete recipe is shown in the recipe display in the Quickstart section. You can also obtain the item from the Creative inventory or with its command ID:
com_tidebound_pearl_3msman62:my_sword
Progression And Strategy
- Build an underwater shelter before eating the pearl.
- Keep spare food available, since the pearl cannot be eaten at full hunger and the transition can be dangerous.
- Use doors, air pockets, conduits, or other normal oxygen-management methods during the transition.
- Mark nearby rivers, oceans, and water pools so you can escape land damage quickly.
- Avoid long journeys across dry terrain until the final state is reached.
- Once the transformation completes, use Water Breathing and Night Vision to explore deep oceans and underwater structures with much less preparation.
