Thunder Dartcaster

Quickstart

Craft a Thunder Dartcaster with iron ingots, a copper ingot, lightning rods, redstone, and a stick:

Hold it and right-click to fire a dart. Aim at an entity: when the dart hits one, lightning strikes at the impact point. The Dartcaster does not use ammunition, and each use fires one dart.

Overview

The Thunder Dartcaster is a ranged weapon for calling lightning down on targets. It can also be found in the Combat section of the Creative inventory.

What It Adds

• Thunder Dartcaster: A single-item-stack weapon that launches darts.
• Lightning strike: A dart hitting an entity summons lightning at the hit location.

How To Use

Equip the Dartcaster and use it to fire toward a target. A hit on an entity triggers the lightning; hitting a block does not. You can fire repeatedly without supplying darts or reloading.

Craft the Dartcaster with the recipe in the Quickstart section. The ingredients are iron and copper ingots, two lightning rods, redstone, and a stick.

Abilities And Mechanics

Each dart is a projectile. Lightning is summoned when it hits an entity, with the shooter credited as the cause when applicable. The lightning can affect the impact area, so take care when aiming near other creatures or flammable surroundings.

Progression And Strategy

Try it first on a distant mob in an open area. Aim directly at entities rather than the ground, and consider nearby creatures and terrain before firing.
