Soulbound Arrowcraft
Quickstart
- Craft a Soul Jar Vacuum using iron ingots, redstone, soul sand, and a glass bottle:
- Aim the Vacuum at a nearby living mob and use it to capture that creature's soul into a jar (this consumes the vacuum's charge but yields a Mob in a Jar item matching the target).
- Craft a Soulbound Codex to track your progress and review your Soul Resonance perks:
- Turn a filled jar into either a batch of Soul Arrows (fire from any bow) or a bowl of Soul Stew (a food item) using the recipes below.
- Fire a soul arrow from a bow at any target — the bound spirit manifests on impact.
Overview
Soulbound Arrowcraft lets you capture the essence of living mobs and turn them into soul-infused arrows and stews. Using a special vacuum tool, you trap a mob's soul in a jar, then choose to unleash it as a devastating soul arrow, consume it as a soul stew, or keep it bottled as a trophy. As you capture and release souls, you build up Soul Resonance, a personal mastery stat that grants passive bonuses and is tracked forever through the Soulbound Codex.
What It Adds
- Soul Jar Vacuum — the core capture tool, built from iron, redstone, soul sand, and a glass bottle.
- Mob in a Jar — a captured, mob-specific soul jar (one variant per supported creature: Allay, Axolotl, Bee, Blaze, Cat, Cow, Creeper, Enderman, Frog, Ghast, Guardian, Iron Golem, Mooshroom, Pig, Piglin, Salmon, Sheep, Shulker, Skeleton, Spider, Villager, Wither Skeleton, Wolf, Zombie).
- Soul Arrows — one arrow type per captured mob, crafted from arrows and the matching jar.
- Soul Stews — one stew type per captured mob, crafted from a jar and a bowl.
- Soulbound Codex — a book-like item that opens a menu showing your Soul Resonance level, capture/release counts, perks, and a field guide.
How To Use
Capturing Souls
Craft the Soul Jar Vacuum, then point it at a living mob within range and use it to pull that mob's soul into a jar. The resulting jar is labeled for the specific mob you captured (for example, "Zombie in a Jar"). Each capture and release contributes to your Soul Resonance progress.
Crafting Soul Arrows
Surround a soul jar with regular arrows on a crafting table to produce a stack of 8 matching soul arrows. All soul arrow recipes follow the same 3x3 layout, with the mob's jar in the center:
Every other captured mob has its own soul arrow recipe using this same pattern — just swap in that mob's jar. Once crafted, load the soul arrow into any bow. On impact, the bound soul is released and manifests near the point of impact.
Crafting Soul Stews
Combine a mob's soul jar with a bowl to produce a Soul Stew unique to that mob:
Every other captured mob has a matching stew recipe using a jar plus a bowl. Soul Stews can be eaten for food value while also honoring the spirit within.
The Soulbound Codex
Craft the Codex from amethyst shards, a plain soul jar, and a book:
Hold and use the Codex to open a menu that shows:
- Your current Soul Resonance level and progress toward the next level.
- Total mobs captured and souls released.
- A Resonance Perks page explaining what each level unlocks.
- A Field Guide with step-by-step instructions for capturing, crafting, and firing soul arrows.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Soul Resonance is a persistent, per-player progression stat. You earn resonance experience by capturing mobs, releasing jars, and hitting targets with soul arrows.
- Resonance is divided into levels, each requiring more experience than the last. Leveling up is announced with a sound and message, and unlocks passive bonuses.
- Vacuum Range starts at a base distance and grows as your resonance level increases, letting you capture mobs from farther away the more experienced you become.
- Captured jars are mob-specific — you must capture that exact type of mob to craft its corresponding arrow or stew.
- Soul arrows behave like normal arrows in flight but release their bound spirit's effect when they strike a target or surface.
Progression And Strategy
- Start by capturing common, easy-to-find mobs (like Cows, Pigs, or Sheep) to build up early Soul Resonance safely.
- Use the Codex regularly to check your resonance level and see when your Vacuum range will expand, letting you capture more dangerous or distant mobs (such as Ghasts, Guardians, or Wither Skeletons) from a safer position.
- Decide whether to consume a captured soul as a stew for sustenance, or invest it into soul arrows for combat utility — each captured jar is a resource you spend deliberately.
- Keep capturing and releasing souls consistently, since both actions feed your resonance growth and unlock deeper perks over time.
