Soul Jar Vacuum (Capture Mobs)
Description
Catch mobs in jars boi. Seriously. Release them when ya want, or store them on shelves like a creepy mob hunter. Or... make soul stews or even soul arrows that release the captured mob when your designated soul arrow makes impact at a target. Yours truly, Ballblaster. The soul stews are now consumable... :/ Gotta catch em all? I suppose so. They belong on shelves. Many mobs have dedicated jar item graphics, while some mobs will be stuck in generic soul jars if they aren't part of the main registry. They are identifiable by a hovering name tag when in an item frame, and an inventory tag like "Armadillo In A Jar" if you caught an Armadillo, while mobs with dedicated visual designs for their jars visibly have the designated mob's soul inside. You can craft consumable stews and arrows with the mobs who have designated visual jar identities. You can trade mobs like items with friends and store them in your inventory. You can theoretically store the Ender Dragon on a shelf, though I don't recommend it if you plan on being able to leave the end in survival mode. How's that for an end update? A tool to bring the ender dragon with you like a pocket pet. As of right now the soul arrows only fire in creative, but I am working to fix this. It is tricky.

Soul Jar Vacuum (Capture Mobs)
Quickstart
- Craft the Soul Jar Vacuum:

- Aim at any living mob (not a player) within 18 blocks and use the item to vacuum it into a jar.
- Turn that jar into a Soul Arrow at a crafting table, then shoot it from a bow to release the captured mob wherever the arrow lands.
- Alternatively, combine a filled jar with a bowl to cook up a themed Soul Stew.
Overview
Soul Jar Vacuum lets you suck up mobs into portable jars, carry them anywhere, and set them free again with a single arrow shot. Every capturable mob gets its own jar, soul arrow, and soul stew variant, turning mob collection into a small crafting and combat loop: capture, store, transport, and release.
What It Adds
- Soul Jar Vacuum – the capture tool.
- Mob in a Jar items – one for each supported mob (Allay, Axolotl, Bee, Blaze, Cat, Cow, Creeper, Enderman, Frog, Ghast, Guardian, Iron Golem, Mooshroom, Pig, Piglin, Salmon, Sheep, Shulker, Skeleton, Spider, Villager, Wither Skeleton, Wolf, Zombie).
- Soul Arrows – matching arrows for every jarred mob that release the captured soul on impact.
- Soul Stews – matching stew items crafted from jars and bowls.
How To Use
Capturing a Mob
Hold the Soul Jar Vacuum and use it (right-click / trigger) while looking at a living mob within 18 blocks. If a valid target is found, the mob is removed from the world and a matching jar (e.g. "Zombie in a Jar") is added to your inventory. If your inventory is full, the capture fails and the mob remains.
You cannot capture players, and the target must be a living creature (mobs with health), not just any entity.
Releasing a Mob
Turn a filled jar into a Soul Arrow using the recipe for that mob. Load the resulting arrow into a bow and fire it. When the arrow lands, it plays a burst of magic sound and spawns the captured mob at the impact point — perfect for releasing creatures into an enclosure, a farm, or right on top of an enemy.
Cooking Soul Stew
If you'd rather not release the mob, combine its jar with a bowl to produce a unique named stew for that creature. This consumes the jar.
Crafting And Obtaining

Abilities And Mechanics
- Vacuum range: the Soul Jar Vacuum targets whatever mob is directly in your crosshairs, up to 18 blocks away.
- One capture per use: each use removes exactly one mob and gives exactly one jar; if your inventory is full, the capture fails and nothing is lost.
- Jars keep their identity: each jar is labeled with the specific mob inside (e.g. "Creeper in a Jar"), so you always know what you're carrying.
- Soul Arrows preserve the mob type: the arrow "remembers" which mob it will summon, and releases that exact mob on impact with a burst of sound.
- Soul Stew: an alternative use for a jar if you'd rather have a novelty food item than release the creature.
Progression And Strategy
Craft the Soul Jar Vacuum early to start building a personal menagerie of captured mobs. Use jars to safely transport dangerous mobs (like Creepers, Ghasts, or Wither Skeletons) without fighting them in the open, then convert them into soul arrows to unleash them precisely where you want — for traps, mob farms, decoration, or ambushes. Keep a stock of different soul arrows on hand so you can drop in the right mob for the situation, whether that's a defensive Iron Golem, a food-source Cow, or a hostile Creeper aimed at your enemies.
