Skybound Wings

Quickstart

1. Craft or obtain Skybound Wings, then equip it in your chest armor slot. In Creative, you can use: /give @s com_skybound_wings_kiok4cza:my_chest 1
2. Step or jump off the ground so you are airborne.
3. To deploy the glider, look downward and press Jump once. You will launch forward and upward into Elytra-style flight.
4. While gliding, hold Crouch/Sneak to boost in the direction you are looking.
5. To use the Wings’ hovering flight instead, remain in the Wings form and hold Jump while airborne for upward lift. Press Crouch/Sneak once to toggle hovering on.
6. While hovering, press Crouch/Sneak + Jump to turn hovering off. Landing also ends glider flight and returns the chest item to Skybound Wings.

Overview

Skybound Wings is a flight-focused chest item. It provides slow falling, upward movement, a toggleable hover mode, and a temporary Elytra-style glider for fast travel.

The Wings are most useful when you want to switch between:

• Controlled vertical movement and hovering
• Elytra-style gliding
• Directional aerial boosts

Flight controls work while you are airborne and not in water.

What It Adds

Skybound Wings has 10 armor protection, a maximum durability of 432, and an Epic rarity. It does not stack.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft Skybound Wings at a crafting table using an Elytra, a Nether Star, feathers, and phantom membranes.

You can also obtain the item directly in Creative mode or with the command /give @s com_skybound_wings_kiok4cza:my_chest 1.

How To Use

Takeoff and lift

While wearing Skybound Wings:

• Become airborne by walking off a ledge or jumping.
• Hold Jump to gain upward lift.
• Looking downward and pressing Jump once deploys the Skybound Glider instead of using the normal upward lift.

The Wings provide Slow Falling while you are airborne and not actively gliding, helping you remain in the air while positioning yourself.

Hover mode

1. While airborne, press Crouch/Sneak once.
2. Release the button; hover mode remains active.
3. Use movement controls to travel horizontally while your vertical position is held steady.
4. Press Crouch/Sneak + Jump to disable hovering.

Holding Jump while hovering still provides upward lift.

Skybound Glider

When you look downward and press Jump while airborne, the Wings temporarily become the Skybound Glider:

• The conversion gives you an upward and forward launch.
• The glider uses normal Elytra-style flight.
• Hold Crouch/Sneak while gliding to boost in the direction you are facing.
• Land to return automatically to Skybound Wings.
• You can also press Crouch/Sneak + Jump to return to the Wings before landing.

Your current durability and enchantments carry between the Wings and the temporary glider. If the Wings did not already have Curse of Binding, the temporary glider receives binding while it is deployed so it stays equipped during flight.

Abilities And Mechanics

Durability

Skybound Wings lose durability only during airborne flight, at roughly one durability point every 40 ticks. Walking, standing on the ground, and ordinary ground damage do not consume their flight durability.

Unbreaking reduces durability wear normally.

Repairing

Skybound Wings can be repaired with Phantom Membranes. Each repair item restores 25% of the item’s maximum durability.

Enchantments

The Wings can receive chest-armor enchantments. Enchantments and their levels are preserved when the item changes into the Skybound Glider and when it returns to Skybound Wings. Chest-armor enchantments that do not work on an Elytra are restored when the Wings return.

Progression And Strategy

• Gather an Elytra and Nether Star before crafting the Wings.
• Use the Wings’ Slow Falling and hover mode to safely position yourself above terrain.
• Deploy the Skybound Glider when you need long-distance travel.
• Look down before pressing Jump to ensure you activate the glider rather than upward lift.
• Hold Crouch/Sneak during a glide for repeated directional boosts.
• Land regularly to return to the normal Wings form and avoid exhausting durability during extended flight.
• Avoid entering water while relying on the Wings’ flight controls.
