Shadowsteel Arsenal
Quickstart
- Open the Creative inventory and search for any of the seven weapons, or craft one at a crafting table in Survival.
- Equip a weapon in your active hand.
- Attack a mob with your normal Attack control to build a combo.
- Use the weapon without sneaking to enter a brief parry window.
- Sneak and press Use to begin a heavy wind-up, then land a melee hit before the window ends.
- Start with the Japanese Katana for a balanced, durable weapon, or choose the Giant Buster Sword for maximum damage.
Overview
Shadowsteel Arsenal adds seven combat weapons with shared action-based mechanics:
- Four-hit combo chains
- Heavy strikes with increased damage and knockback
- Timed perfect parries that counterattack
- Distinct weapon styles and attack trails
- Decorative weapon displays craftable from common materials and an Ender Pearl
What It Adds
| Weapon | Combat style | Normal damage | Durability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Japanese Katana | Katana | 7 | 420 |
| Nodachi / Odachi | Katana | 9 | 360 |
| Souls-like Katana | Souls | 8 | 300 |
| Souls-like Warrior Greatsword | Greatsword | 12 | 260 |
| The Grim Scythe | Scythe | 10 | 280 |
| Lynx Claws | Claws | 6 | 500 |
| Giant Buster Sword | Buster sword | 16 | 220 |
All seven weapons are hand-equipped and can receive sword-slot enchantments.
How To Use
Hold one of the Shadowsteel weapons in your active hand and use your normal Bedrock combat controls.
| Action | Control | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Normal attack | Attack a target | Deals damage and advances the combo |
| Parry | Press Use without sneaking | Opens a short perfect-parry window |
| Heavy wind-up | Sneak + Use | Prepares the next successful hit as a heavy strike |
Combos
Each successful melee hit advances the combo, up to 4 hits. Continue attacking within roughly 1.5 seconds of the previous hit to keep the chain going. Waiting too long resets the combo.
The action bar displays the current attack and combo count. Weapon styles use different visual attack trails, but the combo rules apply to every weapon.
Heavy Strikes
Sneak and press Use while holding a weapon to start a heavy wind-up. You have roughly 0.9 seconds to land a melee hit.
A heavy hit:
- Deals double the weapon’s normal damage
- Launches the target backward with extra knockback
- Uses the current combo sequence
Heavy strikes are useful for opening a fight or pushing dangerous enemies away.
Perfect Parries
Press Use without sneaking just before an enemy attack reaches you. The parry window lasts only about 0.2 seconds, so timing is important.
If an attacker hits during this window:
- A perfect-parry effect appears
- The attacker is knocked backward
- Your weapon immediately performs a counterattack
- The parry window closes
- Any active heavy wind-up is canceled
Practice against predictable melee mobs before relying on perfect parries in a difficult fight.
Crafting And Obtaining
All weapon recipes are shaped recipes made at a crafting table. The display items are separate decorative items and do not replace the weapons.

Souls-like Katana
Uses 1 Echo Shard, 1 iron ingot, and 1 stick.

Souls-like Warrior Greatsword

Weapon Displays
Craft a display item, then place it like a block to create a decorative weapon display. Displays face a cardinal direction based on how they are placed.
| Display | Display recipe |
|---|---|
| Japanese Katana Display | |
| Nodachi Display | |
| Souls Katana Display | |
| Warrior Greatsword Display | |
| Grim Scythe Display | |
| Lynx Claws Display | |
| Giant Buster Sword Display |
Each display recipe uses an Ender Pearl, a stick, and a weapon-themed material:
- Japanese Katana Display: iron ingot
- Nodachi Display: gold ingot
- Souls Katana Display: amethyst shard
- Warrior Greatsword Display: diamond
- Grim Scythe Display: bone
- Lynx Claws Display: leather
- Giant Buster Sword Display: Netherite Scrap
Abilities And Mechanics
Choosing A Weapon
- Japanese Katana: High durability and moderate damage, making it a reliable general-purpose choice.
- Nodachi / Odachi: A stronger katana with good damage and durability.
- Souls-like Katana: A balanced weapon requiring an Echo Shard.
- Souls-like Warrior Greatsword: Heavy damage with a slower-durability profile.
- The Grim Scythe: A hard-hitting scythe with strong enchantability.
- Lynx Claws: The lowest normal damage, but the highest durability.
- Giant Buster Sword: The highest normal damage, offset by the lowest durability among the seven weapons.
Damage And Durability
The damage values in the weapon table are for normal successful hits. Heavy strikes multiply that damage by two. Durability is consumed through ordinary weapon use, so repair or replace weapons as needed using your usual Minecraft equipment options.
Progression And Strategy
Start with an iron weapon when you have access to an early supply of iron. The Japanese Katana is the safest first choice because of its durability, while The Grim Scythe and Nodachi provide more damage.
As rarer materials become available:
- Use the Echo Shard recipe for the Souls-like Katana.
- Choose the Warrior Greatsword for a stronger greatsword without spending diamonds on the weapon itself.
- Craft the Giant Buster Sword when maximum burst damage matters more than durability.
- Keep Lynx Claws for long expeditions where durability is more important than individual hit damage.
For difficult fights, open with a combo, use a heavy strike to create distance, and save normal Use for the moment an enemy’s attack is about to land. A successful perfect parry immediately creates an opening for a counterattack.
