Quickstart

1. Craft a Redstone Surge Staff and a Redstone Surge Staff Magazine at a crafting table.
2. Equip the staff in your main hand and carry a magazine in your offhand or inventory.
3. Aim at a foe and hold Use to fire rapid redstone beams. Sneak while holding Use to charge a blast; release to send it out around you.

Overview

The Redstone Surge Staff has two ways to attack: rapid, aimed beams and a charged area blast. Beams travel instantly along your line of sight, while the blast damages and knocks back nearby foes.

What It Adds

How To Use

• Beam fire: Hold Use without sneaking. The staff fires about 20 beams per second, each dealing 6 damage, with a range of up to 32 blocks. Aim carefully: blocks stop the beam.
• Charged blast: Sneak and hold Use, then release. The blast damages and knocks back nearby foes. Holding longer expands its reach, up to 12 blocks; foes farther from you take less damage and knockback.
• Magazine wear: Each beam shot uses one point of magazine durability. A magazine has 256 durability and breaks when depleted.

Abilities And Mechanics

The staff’s beam is aimed rather than lobbed: it hits the first damageable target in its path, up to its range, unless a block blocks the way. The charged blast spreads around you, so it can affect foes in multiple directions.

Progression And Strategy

Make spare magazines for extended beam use. Use beams to pick off targets at a distance; switch to a charged blast when foes close in, and hold the charge longer when you need to reach a wider area.
