Quickstart

1. Gather 1 redstone dust, 1 copper ingot, and 1 stick.
2. Use a crafting table to craft the Redstone Copper Torch:

1. Place the torch in your inventory and hold it in your offhand (left hand).
2. Explore dark areas while carrying it. Players within 40 blocks of an offhand-held torch gain clear night vision in the same dimension.

Overview

The Redstone Copper Torch is a handheld light source made from redstone, copper, and a stick. It is designed to be carried in the left hand while your right hand remains free for tools, weapons, or other items.

Rather than placing a torch block, it provides a hidden night-vision effect to players near its holder. The effect has no visible particles.

How To Use

Hold It in Your Offhand

Move the Redstone Copper Torch to your offhand slot. Once it is equipped there, the torch automatically provides illumination for you and nearby players.

If you select the torch in your main hand, it is automatically moved to your offhand:

• If your offhand is occupied by another item, the torch and that item swap places.
• If both hands contain Redstone Copper Torches, the main-hand stack is returned to your inventory when possible.

Move Through Dark Areas

The torch affects players within 40 blocks of a holder, measured in all directions. The holder and nearby players must be in the same dimension.

The effect is maintained while the torch remains actively held in an offhand. Multiple holders can extend coverage across a larger area.

Keep Your Main Hand Free

Because the torch works from the offhand, you can continue to use your main hand for:

• Mining tools
• Weapons
• Building blocks
• Food
• Other usable items

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Redstone Copper Torch at a crafting table using:

• 1 redstone dust
• 1 copper ingot
• 1 stick

The ingredients are arranged vertically, with redstone dust above the copper ingot and the stick at the bottom.

In Creative mode, search for Redstone Copper Torch in the Equipment category, or use its command identifier:

Abilities And Mechanics

Night-Vision Illumination

A player holding the torch in their offhand grants night vision to players within 40 blocks. This makes dark surroundings visible without placing blocks or displaying particles.

The effect applies only within the same dimension as the torch holder. Players in another dimension are unaffected.

No Placed Torch Block

The Redstone Copper Torch is an inventory item and does not need to be placed on a wall or floor. Its illumination comes from carrying it in the offhand.

Automatic Offhand Enforcement

The torch is restricted to left-hand use. If it is placed in the main hand, the game moves it to the offhand automatically and preserves the displaced item whenever possible.

Progression And Strategy

• Craft one early when exploring caves, ravines, or other dark areas.
• Carry it in your offhand while keeping a tool or weapon in your main hand.
• Have several players carry torches to maintain illumination across a wider expedition.
• Use the torch near a group so nearby players can benefit from the same 40-block range.
• Remember that the effect follows the player carrying the torch rather than a placed block.
