Pocket Garden Mercenary

Quickstart

1. Gather the materials for the Pocket Garden Mercenary.
2. Craft it at a crafting table:

1. Hold the item in your hand near a farm and use it. In Bedrock, use the item with the normal use button, such as right-click or the use-item control.
2. Check the nearby crops. Young crops advance by one growth stage, while mature crops are harvested and automatically replanted.

You can also obtain the item from the Creative inventory under Equipment.

Overview

The Pocket Garden Mercenary is a single-use-at-a-time farming sword that tends crops around you. It improves growing crops and collects mature harvests without requiring you to target each crop individually.

  • Deals 5 damage.
  • Works as a fast tool for several crop and farm blocks.
  • Uses nearby crops when activated.

How To Use

Hold the Pocket Garden Mercenary and use it anywhere near your farm. It checks a horizontal area extending up to 4 blocks in every direction around you, across the space from 1 block below you to 2 blocks above you.

The item affects:

• Wheat
• Carrots
• Potatoes
• Beetroot
• Sweet berry bushes

Each supported crop is handled individually:

• Growing crops advance by one growth stage.
• Mature crops drop their normal harvest and are replanted automatically.
• Sweet berry bushes are replanted at an early growth stage after harvesting.
• Other harvested crops are replanted at their starting growth stage.

A bone-meal-use sound plays when at least one supported crop is found in the area. Using the item where there are no supported crops does not tend a farm.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Pocket Garden Mercenary at a crafting table. The recipe becomes available after obtaining red wool.

Required materials:

• 2 red wool
• 3 black wool
• 1 iron ingot
• 2 bone meal
• 1 iron sword

The item can also be selected from the Creative inventory.

Abilities And Mechanics

Crop Tending

The mercenary can tend crops in a 9-by-9 horizontal area centered on you. Its vertical reach covers four block layers: one below your position and two above it.

A crop that is not yet mature grows by one stage each time you use the item. A fully mature crop is harvested immediately and replanted, allowing the farm to keep producing.

Farm Tool

The Pocket Garden Mercenary breaks the following blocks quickly:

• Wheat
• Carrots
• Potatoes
• Beetroot
• Sweet berry bushes
• Melons
• Pumpkins

Melons and pumpkins benefit from its fast breaking speed, but they are not automatically grown or harvested by the nearby-crop tending ability.

Durability And Combat

• Attack damage: 5
• Maximum stack size: 1

Progression And Strategy

• Stand near the center of a farm before using the item to cover as many crops as possible.
• Use it repeatedly on developing crops to speed them toward maturity.
• Use it again when the farm is mature to collect the harvest and replant the crops in one action.
• Keep the item in your main hand while working with melons and pumpkins for faster harvesting.
• Carry a spare or plan for repairs during extended farming, since the item has limited durability.
